View Full Version : Has Emma made BB better
Just wondering what people think because for me if Brian was still hosting I would not be that hyped but with Emma she has lifted it up for me.

In terms of the whole 15 years its still the same as the Ch4 show (now at least) but she has definitely made the Ch5 show better

No Brian was amazing -sob- but tbh I don't think the host makes the show any better or worse anyway, for me it's all about what goes on in the house, the HMs and the tasks/twists

That is how I feel as well.
I would say the house has a huge impact but the host makes the show better on evicton nights and on launch night.

I'd say that she has made the eviction shows much better, but the highlights and the eviction shows in turn still need improving.

I stopped watching evictions/live shows with Brian presenting. That has changed since Emma has presented and I've watched every show religiously.
She's a far better spokesperson for the show, she's great in interviews and generally gives off a far better image for the show compared to Brain who always looked very wooden. You can tell Emma loves presenting, it's natural to her and she looks very comfortable in the role - her enthusiasm for Big Brother shows too. Channel 5 could not have a better person as presenter. Emma is the 'mother' of Big Brother these days.
Brian is a funny guy and all although as far as presenting goes he was crap! The fact he has had no major presenting roles since Big Brother shows that it is not a job suited for him.
I do worry sometimes though that Emma is going through the same as Davina and working on far too many shows for her own good. Although she is hitting the height of her career so I can't blame her making the most of it.

Emma is a watered down version of Davina who set the standard and wont be bettered. Brian was a lovely guy but like Rylan and AJ, they are just not presenter material and looked awkward. I love Emma when she is allowed to go off on an adlib journey as her laugh is infectious, but sadly she is scripted and her questions to the evictee are muted to the point that you can see where she is going. No spontaneity.
BB needs to get back to basics and stop force feeding us camp presenters like we are supposed to think they are funny. They are not, they just look awkward. Give Iain Lee his head and let him rip the dullards apart, that would bring a different dimension to the show. All this nicey nicey camp rubbish is borderline sickly and totally detached from the bad boy image the show inherited yrs ago.

Brian was a wooden bore, Emma brings the show to life and has so much passion for it which shows.

Initially yes, although I enjoyed Brian doing BB too.
However, as the series went on,her bias and personal preferences were made very clear and even to the taking of sides issue too as to housemates.
That is not good presenting and her interviews have also become near non events also.
So I will wait and see how she does this year but at present I feel she is actually a step back from Brian at this point.
I can't stand her voice.. It has ruined it a bit for me.

Emma is similar to Davina in some ways it is better with Emma.

Im sorry but most of you who are saying Brian was better, were the ones complaining to get rid of him. IMO I think Davina will always be the top presenter of the show,
DAVINA: Big Motha
EMMA: Big Sista
BRIAN: Big Boner!

I think the highlights shows are the same, if you get the content it's a good show, CBB9 was a Brian presented series and is the best C5 CBB. Eviction nights, yes of course, and the launch, I mean BB is still camp, but it was beyond-so with Brian and was just tacky, look at those ****ing show-girls one year, embarrassing.
BRIAN: Big Boner!
I don't think Brian gave any one a boner

Summer BB's 500,000 jump in ratings, presenting skills and charismatic YES 100% she has.
Shes a serious presenter and that draws people in.

Brian wasn't better, but I do miss him :(
Emma's a good presenter, and as long as she stops Rylan becoming main host that's fine by me.

I wish he'd gotten the Big mouth job first day and maybe he would still be there then :(

It's impossible to not make it better when the last host was Brian.

Much better and more credible with Emma than Brian, especially now that she is doing other big shows as well

and I don't know how to say it without it sounding a bit sexist but the show suits having a female host way more. Don't know why just does. Maybe because of Davina Lol

There's a reason most versions of BB have a female host, usually they're just better presenters for the format.
I don't think Brian gave any one a boner

Emma Willis has insisted that she’ll never leave her role as the main presenter of Big Brother, despite becoming the face of The Voice UK.
In October last year, BBC One announced that the 37-year-old will take over from Holly Willoughby on the talent contest when it returns later this month, in what is her highest profile presenting job to date.
However, despite having now hit the big time, self-confessed Big Brother fanatic Emma has told Star magazine that its bosses will have to sack her before she leaves the show, in a statement that echoed those of its former Channel 4 host Davina McCall.
“I’m not going anywhere,” she assured. “I don’t plan to leave Big Brother any time soon – they’ll have to get rid of me!”
McCall was repeatedly the subject of rumours suggesting she had quit Big Brother throughout her time on the show, but stuck with it until its final series on C4 in 2010.
Meanwhile, Willis also addressed the departure of AJ Odudu, who was recently dropped from spin-off Big Brother’s Bit On The Side in a ‘mutual agreement’ with Channel 5.
“It’s such a shame,” she mused. “She’s such a lovely girl but I’ve no doubt in my mind we’ll be seeing her somewhere cool very soon because she’s great.”
Emma is back on our screens with the live launch of Celebrity Big Brother 2014 tonight at 9.00pm on Channel 5.

Don't normally pay much attention to Twitter, but just checked her twitter feed and she only has 500,000 followers, with all the work she's doing nowadays i thought she'd at least have 1 million. Rylan surprisingly has more followers.

Definetly I could not stand Brian to the point it was bringing down the live shows with his repetitive sayings, cringey presenting and being ott all the time. Emma still needs a little more personality though but 120% better.

Emma is fantastic, when I first started watching with Davina (BB7 although I've seen all the series online etc) I got a little buzzed watching because she had an infectious enthusiasm for BB and you could tell she loved the show. Emma makes me feel the same, you can tell she loved BB and is excited to be its presenter.
Brian was all wrong, it felt like her was doing an hour long chore and that's how it felt watching him, his interviewing skills were horrific too.
Can't say that I totally dislike her...but she comes in a distant third-place for me , behind Davina and Brian! ...:spin: ...sorry!...I know how much she is loved on here..but that's my considered view!
