Is bent really offensive? (excuse my ignorance) I suppose it's probably used in a negative manner but Heterosexual people are regularly referred to as straight?

When I read the title I assumed he probably dropped the F Bomb. I'll wait to see it tonight in the highlights I suppose. It doesn't look too malicious just reading it tbf.

Shhhh don't be trying to apply such silly notions as "logic" to these sorts of discussions. Heterosexual people are both "straight" and "hetero". Homosexual people are NEVER "bent" or "homo". That's just the rules.

Also, lulz at Evander's son "defending his dad" with this gem:

"He treats everyone like a human being… even if they are homosexual."

:joker:. Even if, eh.

No

No worse than 'bent' to be honest, ha.

It just seems like a silly thing for singular words to be taken out and used to warn them. Hardly the most offensive thing in the world, especially when you compare it to Evanders comments the other night.

Just seems to be another thing the producers are doing for the sake of showing support for gays and creating some form of drama so the media can hook onto it for 5 minutes.

I haven't read the article yet but third warning? why haven't we seen them then?

I get the impression that the others aren't rule breaks, just a level of "casual" swearing in general that means entire normal conversations are off limits for the HL show (as even after the watershed, there are guidelines on "excessive, unnecessary" swearing before 11pm).

To me I find the word 'bent' offensive. When you stand it up against the term 'straight', it implies an abnormality.

Exactly so gays need to stop comparing whatever they're facing to race struggles.

Huh?

Bigotry is bigotry, why are some people hell-bent on making it a competition. "No, this minority had it worse! NOO, THIS ONE DID!" All forms of discrimination are as bad as each other, people who try to make out that homophobia is somehow not as bad as racism are clearly uneducated on the effects it's had on some people.

Actually, how does your post at all relate to what I said? :conf: Unless you're jumping on the fact that I said gay people don't have a "look", and then decided to talk about how racism is worse because people are discriminated against for what they look like? I'm not sure how that makes homophobia somehow less of a problem, both are people being treated differently because of who they are. There was a time when simply being gay could land you in prison, but you're right, that wasn't a big deal.

As for the "look" thing, my point was that some ignorant people still DO think that gay men look and act a certain way.

Also, why is it always suggested that the only people pissed off by supposed-homophobia are "the gays"? "The gays" aren't the only ones who object to homophobic slurs, you know?

This years show is weird. As far as I am aware, there are no gay HM,s but all the forum can talk about is gay issues. If gay people took a leaf out of the Asian, coloured and Jewish books and simply looked down on anti,s comments, they would be more than accepted into society, but whilst there are gay people out there magnifying every little thing they disagree with, their lifestyle and ways will always be hard to be integrated.

Many years ago black power and blacks civil rights were all over the place, nowadays we hear very little about racism due to the fact that most of us support coloured people and racists are given a really hard time. I don't condone gay bashing nor racism, in fact I abhor it but if gay people stopped getting so heavy and started laughing at these fools instead. they will always find themselves in a rock or a hard place.

The anti,s need pitying not slandering, that way many will keep their opinions to themselves. I am sorry but a lot of gay people make a rod for their own back. My views may be wrong but they are a personal and non biased opinion that sympathise with what some people have to put up with, and not a dig at gays.

Ah, yeah, if a gay person objects to homophobic language, they're just "sensitive". Then, considering you're throwing out a bit of bigotry yourself, no wonder you don't have a problem with it.

Oh, and you might like to know that:

1. It's not just "homos" who complain about supposed-homophobia.
2. Not all "homos" are the same. Seriously, you only show yourself up by trying to group an entire range of people in together. :)
