View Full Version : Fake tanning
What do you think of fake tanning? Do you find it attractive/do you think it makes a person look good? Do you go for sun beds/fake tan yourself or have you in the past? Would you ever?
Personally I think it's cheap looking and it's a waste of money. It's a self perpetuating myth as well, if you start doing it then you feel like you have to keep doing it in order to keep up the pretense that you always look like that... I don't know why so many young women feel the need to "have a tan" all the time, I don't know a single guy who would list a fake tan as something he looks for in a girlfriend

Not really attracted to a person when they're the colour of a wotsit
Yeah I just don't understand why so many girls feel the need to be an unnatural colour, if you're white, be white, don't pretend otherwise, just so weird to me

I don't like it. The idea of being covered in something like that kinda grosses me out.

It depends whether you just do it occasionally for a party or something like that and it just looks like a natural tan or you constantly look orange which is not a good look.
Anyway this girl so should be a housemate.

Sun beds are addictive apparently. Must admit I've always wanted to go just to see what it's like lying in one of those machines but I'd never actually want to get a fake tan done

If its done right it can look natural. I dont understand why people chose orange though, looks ridiculous.
Would never use it myself though tbh

Before I got married I had a few sun bed sessions so I did a nice glow I suppose,. I also had a spray tan once before I went on holiday as for some reason that year I didn't want to arrive milk bottle white, no idea why  I actually hate the smell of fake tan, and it gets into the pores of your legs and it is just far too much hassle to keep it up, so can't be arsed now, and I do think some people look better with a tan.

The goth in me rejects all tanning products, I owned a sunbed once in 1992, bought it off a friend went on it once and hated it thank god! I dread to think of the damage I could have done to myself :/

I only tan when I'm going somewhere special or for an occasion, I like it as long as it's not over the top or patchy.

I only ever get it done if I'm going to a wedding or some sort of occasion that involves me wearing a dress etc. My best friend is a beautician and she always does it for me(spray tan not sun beds) it's never orange though just takes the shocking whiteness away from my Irish legs

Yeah my sister does mine for me and whatever she uses is amazing. I don't think folk would think I had fake tan on, they'd just think I looked healthy instead of my usual ill heroin-chic look I usually have going on
I honestly don't know how women can be bothered with the cans of spray tan that you do yourself with a tanning mitt, what an effort!!

Me neither.. A spray tan takes about 5 minutes and is usually even... A few girls at work do their own tans and their faces look positively dirty at times!

Yeah me neither far too much effort altogether. My friend has a kind of a pop up tent thing and a big spraying machine thing and you just stand in it and she sprays away  The only thing good about winter is you can get away with wearing black tights with dresses and you don't have to worry about tan

I don't like showing my legs or arms.. Last spray I had, I got her to just do my face, chest, back and arms.. I'm glad I didn't have an accident and end up in hospital or something

I think it's very stupid, why does anybody want to be tanned? Everyone in our countries is milky white, what on earth is the point in paying money for something that is just gonna wash off anyway? D:

I'm getting to that point too, I need to get back running D:
I was saying this to my friend yesterday (which is what sparked this thread) I am so glad I'm not a girl, there's so much pressure to do all these things with your appearance that men don't even have to think about!

Whether it's natural or fake, I look and feel 100% better about myself when I have a tan.
