Fair play. Now Alvaro can come out and tell the world we're in a committed relationship xo.

I just put Villa as that is what most of the news articles had it down as that is his most prominent club really!

Samuel.

Confused at why this is top news story on BBC Sport

Good for him, maybe it'll inspire others to come out, but honestly, why on earth does it matter?

In fact maybe if they didn't make such a huge deal out of it every time, more players might feel comfortable speaking about it.

it's a bit of a catch-22 really: it's big news because they come out so rarely, and they come out so rarely because it's always big news.

Well done to him for having the courage though etc etc

With you on this Samuel, in this day and age it is a shame that it has to be "announced", I know PL football is all manly and stuff and contact sport in general but honestly why do people care so much as long as it is consenting adults there really shouldn't be an issue.

Always thought he was

Really? There weren't ever any obvious signs :suspect:

and most of the Sport newspapers are being really patronizing with it, you'd think he'd died the way they're talking about it, tributing pages to him and stuff, when I'm sure all he'd want is a quick mention of it and it not to be blown up like this, it's part of the reason others don't come out I think

He'll always be remembered for his time with us more than any other club, great player and great guy (that sounded a bit obituary-ish didn't it)
