Well, I can honestly say after being married for almost 31 years to the same guy that APATHY is invaluable!

Plenty of blackmail evidence secured somewhere, ready to be released if something happens to you.:laugh:

I'm part of another long lasting relationship - 30 years married this year. The secret - friendship, learning to ignore his irritating little (!) ways, letting him think you always agree with him whilst actually doing the complete opposite, letting him make fun of you still being completed fascintated by BB2 (makes him feel superior), not letting him realise that although he thinks he is head of the family - there's only ONE boss:hello::hello::hugesmile::hugesmile:
But the No. 1 way to keep a relationship is give and take. He gives, you take:thumbs::thumbs:

I heard that one too cc100, from Big Fat Greek Wedding. It says the man might be the head of the house and can make decisions but the woman is the neck and she can twist him any way she can. Classic!:hugesmile::spin2:

AS is spending at least 1/3 of the marriage[almost 34 years - I was a 'child bride ' of course:blush: - ] at opposite ends of 1 motorway or another and only getting together at weekends!

The secret to a long lasting relationship is patience and tolerance. Perseverance is a good thing too for when things get tough which they will do at some point. Finding a good match is essential in the first place. Oh and plenty of love always helps.

Very cynical response from you ROB, old duck!! Could it be OH is in the old bad books again? I, like Boris, have been married for almost 34 years (god I'm old) and if I had the secret to a long lasting relationship I would make a fortune. However, for what it's worth I agree with Janette, my OH often makes me laugh, and that is so important. I frequently laugh at him too!! He also gives me as much freedom as I need. Doesn't pretend to share all my interests but is always pleased to support me with good grace in whatever I do. I have changed completely from the little wifey that he married all those years ago but I think he still likes me and that's a minor miracle!

My OH is like the sea Peachy.
(Full of sewage you may ask?)
Nope, mostly fathomless, not very communicative. Occasionally warm, never hot, and squalls blow up at short notice. The moon has more chance of influencing him than I do.
Your OH however......

In all seriousness, I would have to say that the secret to a long standing relationship is actually liking the person you're with. You could love them to bits and have a great physical relationship but unless you like the person, it'll not be a happy union.
I was married before, and have only been with my OH for three years. We love each other and we like spending time together. There's not an hour goes by that I don't think about what he's doing and I know the same goes for him.
Ok, enough from me, this soppy behaviour is spoiling my reputation!!!!!!!
