Is anybody going on holiday this year? Where are y'all going?

I'm trying to get something booked but cannot make up my mind! We almost booked something yesterday morning but didn't and by the time we got home from work yesterday, the free child places had gone and the total price had gone up by £800!! FTS!!

We're going to NY in August,we're lucky though as my brother lives there so we stay there for free we just have to pay for flights ,and we can more or less go anytime.

Dave wants to go to NY for his 40th in a few years! I've probably got a few places we could stay too but I think if it's for a birthday surprise I should take him to a nice hotel! I'd better start saving!

I want to go on holiday in the summer, I like going new places but my friend's set up a business over in Greece and he's asked us all if we want to go out there in the summer so now everyone's keen to go there... I've already been there twice, once with my family and once with most of the guys in summer 2011, kinda don't wanna go again but I want to go away with my friends so I'll just go along with it... it was a nice place and I know I'll have fun but I want to see the world, not go to the same place all the time. I've got money set aside for it but now I don't have a job I'm not sure I should spend it on flights, I don't have any income coming in to save up holiday money :/

Would really recommend staying in the Generator hostel; it's cheap but the hostel is at hotel levels of quality, honestly, that way you can share a room with your mates, save money and it's in a really central location. Didn't really find all that much to do in Hamburg but we were only there for a couple of days, nice place!

I definitely want to go away. I'd like to go skiing before the end of the season, but not sure I'll have time now with the new job. I'd really like to go to Cuba this year, Canada maybe... trouble is I have so many places I'd like to go it's hard to edit down the list.

I'd love to go to Canada, one of my best friends at school moved to Vancouver to go to uni and then her parents moved out a year later because she's an only child and they didn't have any reason to stay in Scotland... so she's there permanently now and she's always said I'd be welcome if I wanted to come visit, it's something I'd like to do once I'm in full time work and could afford to go over there for 2-3 weeks

I've never done anything like that in the UK, I think as far as my family are concerned, beaches are just freezing wastelands in the UK  that's what happens when you live really far north...

Speaking of Blackpool, for ages I thought it was down by Portsmouth and Southampton just because everyone talks about the beaches down south and it's a seaside resort, had no idea it was near Manchester even though of course it is and why would it be down south... I think I only really clicked last year :joker:

I do love a holiday by the seaside. Haven't been to Blackpool for a long time and the last time I stayed at butlins was in 1997.

We did have a piss up holiday in Yarmouth a couple if years ago.

Meh, Fiji is overrated and very expensive for what you get. You'd be better off hitting New Zealand from Australia and then enroute to LA do a stopover in French Polynesia then Hawaii, it works out a lot cheaper and is much nicer.

Also flights from Cairns/Darwin/Perth to Bali can be quite cheap.

I would only do fiji if i was going with my one true love. hmmm interesting about french polynesia always wanted to go to bora bora. did you do it? tbh the romantic get away doesnt have to be fiji, it could be any pacific island just thought it would be cheapest because its the most established.

Depends on when you are looking to do it. French Polynesia can be added as a stopover from Auckland to LA at no/little extra cost.

Fiji isn't as cheap as it used to be especially if you want comfort/romantic, I would say look at Vanuatu but flights are not always the cheapest there either.

Saying that New Zealand has some great places for romantic getaways in the summer, Waiheke Island being one of them, especially if you like wine.

How long did you spend in Munich and was it enough time/was it worth the visit? I've never been, it's on my to see list.

Rome is amazing innit?!

It was raining the whole time I was there and I was staying quite far from all the sites so I didn't get to experience it properly, but the Colosseum and the general area around it was really good

6 days. Was originally supposed to stay 4 days which would have been enough time, but missed my coach so had to extend for an extra couple of days. I pretty much just spent my time there drinking but I preferred it to Berlin
