What's everyone opinions on Lionel? I don't see much threads made about him.

I actually don't know if I like him or not, I think he comes off sometimes as a bit sly and maybe two faced but then other times I think he's alright.

I think he is quite sly, he may be old but I reckon he can be one hell of a bitch when he wants.

He's a very eccentric person, I generally quite like him and find him pretty interesting but he can seem a bit two faced sometimes with how he'll join in with Jim moaning about Luisa and Jasmine but then also bitch with those two about him. But then Jim himself accepts that as part of who Lionel the entertainer is so I'm inclined to let it slide really, I think Lionel just sees it as harmless gossip more than anything malicious

He's very funny but I don't think he means to be, he's not very trustworthy tbh. He's entertained me but I don't think he's deserving enough to win.

I think he's a great guy but as others have said, he's two faced. I don't know if he intends it maliciously, I think he just molds his opinions and views around whoever he's with - e.g. laughing when Luisa calls him an OAP but then getting angry about it when he's with Jim. A bit of a closed book in that sense, you don't really know what he's thinking about.

He's more of an old fart than I thought he was gonna be - he was one of my fave to coast into the final by being nice to everyone - but I'm surprised at how argumentative he has been. He;s one of the better Hm's

Me too, I'm glad though, back on the fence again with my opinion of him but he's one of the better housemates for sure

I love him. I think he's being a great housemate. 82 years old and he has all this enthusiasm and drive and he throws himself headlong into tasks with all the abandon of a 20 year old!
Sure, he a old show business type who loves a good old gossip and a bitch, but I don't think he's spiteful or anything like that.
I'm quite amazed by him. When I heard he was going into the house I thought 'oh NO!' but he's been a fantastic HM and he's in on all the goings - on.

I don't like him, he was flipping weird in that 18 task, went totally OTT and then bleated about the girls taking it too seriously?..
He has some dirt on jim though I'm sure hope he blabs after a few sherries

..he's very surface/showbiz and I think self centred but he doesn't strike me as having anything nasty/malicious about him at all, so I think he's ok but haven't really got any strong feelings about him either way...

like most that are in there, he's an ok housemate, but he's very guarded most of the time.
very active for an older housemate it has to be said, but he has his own agenda.

I doubt he has any dirt on Jim I just think his ego won't take Jim being in the house after him.

One minute he's slagging off the girls about their noise and screaming,Next minute he's slagging off Jim for being "grumpy" about the noise in the bedroom. He's a sly fox alright.

I like him still but have been really surprised at his nominating. I would find it hard to know what he really thought of me from how he is with the others.
He moans constantly about Jasmine and Luisa yet at noms he pulls back from usually one of them.

He is a legend of show business and they are quite unpredictable people.
However from what we have seen, he maybe would be someone I became wary of while also still getting along with.

The minute he held up Jims picture, he died a horrible death. He is 2 faced and bitter and only needs to be nomed once and he is history. He may even walk when he feels he is in danger of going saying the noise or conflict was too much for a man his age, just as an excuse to save face.

Most two faced housemate in living memory, deathmask face to boot.

Lionel is like all of the 'has-beens' that enter the bb house...dying to get their long lost 'stardom' back, and is deluded to think that winning big brother will do that for him!
...and so is playing the game the best way he thinks he can. ...And also due to his fuzzy view of the 'showbiz world' he is mistakenly thinking that 'he and Jim' are the two main contenders for the crown! [in his out of date head, he thinks why not?, they are the only big stars in there so it has to be him or me!]

...In short...Lionel still thinks that he and Jim retains the "Star-Status" that they had in the 1970's, and is playing the game accordingly!
Jim knows this and in deference to Lionel's age... is no doubt disappointed, but will let it slide and allow the old guy his delusions!
...and Jim's gone up in my estimation because of this!

....By the way...as for the people saying that Jim owes his career to Lionel..."rubbish"!...Lionel was just one of the panel members on the New Faces episode that Jim deservedly won...he wasn't a starmaker,...he was just being paid for his appearance [which was after all his living] and naturally picked the best act to vote for!...there were no favours done...it was just happenstance!

Cheers.

agreed. I found him a little two-faced with his nomination for jim, and also he only decides to create an issue with the girls when he wants if he decides he's going to take offense to something they've said or done afterwards rather than at the time which baffles me.

Lionel's taking the Linda approach to getting ahead in the house (not realising it's having the opposite effect) - he's fighting with people he thinks the public will hate by jumping into arguments when the opportunity presents itself. It's not going to pay off, I don't think.
