Well this is ****ing amazing news if true :amazed: CBB's should've stayed at the four week length that they were in the latter days of C4 anyway
Surely they can't do this though if they've all signed contracts for three weeks?

@bbspy: Big #CBB news - we're reliably informed the series is being EXTENDED. Will be announced tomorrow if true - if so, you heard it here first!

Any reason why they would make the decision half way through the series to extend? Presumably due to it being a success??

They definitely have contracts which stipulate some kind of end date, it's the same for the civilian housemates too because I remember Jack and Joe discussing the finale date which was written in their contracts on the first days live feed - and IIRC in the end that finale date came true
I'd imagine it's maybe a contract with a four or five day space maybe either side so they have some leeway as to when to schedule the finale? Unless they're literally going to talk to the housemates and their agents and discuss a weeks extension?
It'll probably be a Tuesday final instead of the previous Friday or something, or maybe just two days? Interesting though
This could have posted in the thread we already have?

Friday 24th January was:

22.30-24.00 Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side
Friday 24th January now:
21.00-22.30 Celebrity Big Brother: Live Eviction
22.30-23.30 Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side
23.30-24.00 Celebrity Big Brother Live from the House
Added on Saturday 25th January:
22.00-23.00 Celebrity Big Brother
23.00-24.15 Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Psych
Added on Sunday 26th January:
21.00-22.00 Celebrity Big Brother
Added on Monday 27th January:
21.00-22.00 Celebrity Big Brother

Added on Tuesday 28th January:

To be fair though - the ratings are good yes, and they're ahead of last years celeb series, but they're not like MASSIVELY ahead.

OR are they worried that Jim might actually win this now so are extending it to hope he puts his foot in it?
Is this there are reliable source for this info? it could easily be that theres a triple eviction, or that Brian Dowling is going in to resume the clash with Jim that Brian started on Hell's Kitchen.

This'll also help with evictions too if confirmed because if tomorrow doesn't somehow turn into a double we were looking at at least a six person final if Friday's and next Wednesday's evictions were doubles, and in a ninety minute show we'd have probably had 6th and 5th leaving together :bored:
This gives them an extra eviction, so we could get a final five if they did two doubles and two singles

I'm voting for her to stay, i'm sorry i really like her but Liz needs to go tomorrow. I'd much rather see Jim being Jim, even though i don't like him i want to see arguments.

Maybe there was a clause in the contract about extending time in the house; I mean if there's a clause dictating that the money they get will be reduced if they walk out of the house then there are probably other clauses regarding time spent in the house too. This is great news! This series has been lightning in a bottle, quality television!

Certainly in the UK, but not unheard of in the world of Big Brother - just last year Big Brother Australia extended its latest season by two weeks half way through.
I'm sure the housemates' contracts will cover this - they probably stipulate the housemate must be available for a maximum amount of days that accounts for a possible extension

Celebrity Big Brother 13 is the thirteenth series of the British reality television series Celebrity Big Brother. It launched on 3 January 2014 on Channel 5[1] and will end after 26 days on 28 January 2014, making it the longest Channel 5 series of Celebrity Big Brother. The series was originally meant to end after 22 days on 24 January 2014, however due to ratings success, it was extended by 4 days.[2] It is the sixth celebrity series and the ninth series of Big Brother overall to air on the channel. The series was officially confirmed on 3 April 2012 when Channel 5 renewed the show until 2014.[3] Emma Willis has returned to host the series.[4]

I would rather it end on a Friday to be honest, makes the final more of an event.
Im thinking the real reason is Channel 5 have probably bought in some new American import they want to screen. With it being on a Tuesday theres no reason to split the final into 2 which is a positive though.

It'll be something that has been planned in advance and discussed thoroughly with the celebs beforehand, they wouldn't risk half of the celebs leaving because they have other jobs lined up after the original end date.
Jamesy
15-01-2014, 02:37 PM
how are they allowed to do this, they all signed contracts for 3 weeks
I'd assume their contracts either sate that the producers can change the finale date at their own discretion - or it states that they must leave +/- 7 days of the penned in finale date as broadcasting may change.
Maybe they've got a surprise new housemate they couldn't resist signing up so extended it?
Someone like Janice Dickinson would be perfect.
If they have got another celeb in the line them they need to put the new celeb in either tonight or Friday. Otherwise an additional housemate is pointless.
