View Full Version : Is it me or does Jim's speech seem slurred at times?

I am wondering, how many bottles of red does jim get through at night?
..I'm not a fan but I hadn't noticed tbh...it hasn't seemed slurred to me...

usually at night, on the bed, after a few. He wants to go to sleep but housemates won't let him. So when he talks he slurs.

..ah ok, well even though I don't like him, I do have to say that when I'm tired, I can barely speak at all, so slurred speech would be an improvement for me.....

All the young ones get wrecked and goof around totally smashed and its cool. Jim has a slight slur and he is maligned for it. Go figure.

I like Jim just wondered that if he does get tipsy he controls it well. Unlike Denise Welch

He is an alki. he has beer for breakfast but he disguises it well. If I lived in there, I would be hitting the bottle as well. Jim is a legend and will win this as he is meeting all challenges with his head and not his heart.

I'd get pissed everyday living in there with some of them.
I haven't noticed that. I think it's just that he mumbles a bit sometimes when he's talking.

Legend?..
He's up there with Bernard Manning, his remit was impersonating a black man and other assorted bigotry passing it off as humour.
I agree he's an alcoholic.

Jim's style of humour was once acceptable but now isn't. The world has moved on - but Jim hasn't.
His solution? Hit the bottle rather than change!

Yep a prejudiced dinosaur, surprised he keeps getting given a platform tbh.
Well if it's at night and he's had a few I think you already answered your own question OP.
Probably a mixture of tired and tipsy.

Can't say I have noticed & yes, like MANY comedians of his day, Jim used to do racist/homophobic jokes, which back then were not considered offensive, yes the world has moved on & so should everyone else banging on about how Jim USED to be...

Well he isn't in the BB house being racist or homophobic so to answer your question Yes.

He's still being very divisive though I feel, didn't luisa say early on in the series he just looked at her and said 'feck off'
once?
It's been said he is a different person once he's had a drink, nasty... and then the next day lovely.

No that was Jasmine that said that do you watch the highlights? genuinely curious?,
Anyway it happened on the highlights and you could tell he was having a laugh or at least I think you could imo.
Do you have any examples of him being nasty after a drink Kizzy because I honestly can't think of any? he actually walked away from a few arguments after a drink too iirc.

Yes josy I genuinely do.. and it was jim that said it, which is the main point whoever he said it to.
In the highlights it was said by a HM that he was rude whilst drinking and then in the morning was really nice and a different person entirely, it was a couple of days ago.

You've hit the nail on the head. His type of 'humour' is the type that puts people down. He couldn't change his act to move with the times because he doesn't know how to be funny without trying to belittle and heap scorn on minorities and women.

Me and our lass watched an episode of 'Love Thy Neighbour' last night. It was all in good fun with racism from both sides but still would'nt be viewed as acceptable now.It had Patrick from Eastenders in it when he was young.

Oh come on now, he and Liz were their scapegoat nominations, who else in all honesty were they going to nominate, they are far too nicey nice to rock the boat, Sam said she had no problem with Jim, just how he was with Linda ( and with Linda it is very 50/50_)

I certainly wouldn't be influenced by some one else's opinion of someone. I'd make up my own mind. Wouldn't you?

But you don't know if it's 50/50 as you are not there. It's unfair to take someones nomination as not honest just because you don't like it.

We can judge on what we have seen though and we haven't been shown Jim being awful to Linda like she seems to say, we also saw Linda on the highlights the other night go to the DR moaning that Jim took the nominations really badly (we never seen that at all) then out to the garden to have another moan about him.
She also nominated Jim again, he never nominated her, quite a few things point to Linda having more of a problem with him than vice versa.

Yes but we are talking about people who weren't born when Jim was controversial, easy for Linda as a female to influence those girls who didn't know Jim from Adam, you can bet she has filled them in on his past, and then some:hugesmile:

The H/L's show very little really. I doubt Linda would try to lie to BB as they see everything that goes on in the house.
I don't even like Linda that much but she gets blamed for breathing.

I have seen him say about the vat of wine that's about it, I'm being honest...
And we saw what happened after the face to face noms, we saw Jim go to Jasmine and explain that Liz never meant anything bad by what she said, I'm sure we would have been able to tell with his actions/attitude if he was actually raging at his noms?

Yes, the vat of wine 3 times. You didn't think that was snide then? Several times when she was talking to the group he cut in mid sentence - interrupting her as if she didn't exist and her opinion didn't count. Some of the HM's have mentioned that too so I wasn't seeing things....
As for the nom thing - it's possible his anger came out later when he had a drink. That seems to be the way it goes. But I'm only surmising of course.
