Why does Linda keep telling the others that her husband gave a guilty plea so as to save his family from a lot of hassle?

I do understand her anger with Jim at bringing it up, even though she had been picking on him for 2 weeks, but stop trying to change history love, your husband was a thief, stealing from people working in the same industry in the same theatres, a dirty stinking thief, tell Jim to shut up by all means, and dont mention it again yourself, but DONT make out your husband was a nice guy, cause he was a thieving git!
