Evander was a broke ass bitch and just lost his mansion to Rick Ross...

Rick Ross purchased the mansion a year after heavyweight champ Evander Holyfield lost it to foreclosure—he owed the bank a whopping $14 million.

:o

How do these people get into such sorry financial states!? They spend big and can't keep bankrolling their grand homes... if I had that kind of money I'd buy myself a nice flat and just put everything into savings and when my short lived career was over I'd train myself to do something else.

It's all about show I think, they value people in America by how much they earn (maybe more so than most other places). So people then put that on display. It seemed pretty obvious to me that he had to be in big money trouble, it's not like most people will have forgotten him and he needed his profile raised.

some people that come from poverty and become really rich over spend like that sometimes cause they never had that kind of money. i can see why that happens but its a shame when people do it to the extent that it screws themselves over in the long run.

You actually look stupid buying a house like. It's a monument of stupidity.

Continuing to live a life of luxury after you're not earning the big money anymore can easily lead to this...that and having 94389439438 kids to different mothers

if i had Bill Gates money for the rest of my life and never have to worry i wouldnt feel stupid buying a house like that.

i wouldnt buy anything that big even if i did though. my house would likely be big cause i would want all kinds of rooms for certain things. rec, gym, theater, outside pool, inside pool, ect.:spin:

a lot of boxers were very poor growing up so when they come into immense wealth they don't know how to handle it

I think quite a lot of people judge people by their assets, and I think quite a lot of people believe it's valid. I think quite a lot of people believe everything they read / say. It's the media-controlled generation.

I hope there becomes a day when people want to rediscover some basic human-human -survival skills rather than being dictated to. Evander would be OK :P

I guess it's true that people who come into a lot of money that they aren't used to having possibly don't know how to handle it... a guy I know gets a hell of a lot of loan money from the government because he's a student and he's just blown it all on... ****, essentially. The sad irony being that by the summer he'll no longer get that money and owe a massive amount of debt back plus interest.

But if you're very poor you might actually be very careful with the money when you get rich, because that's what you're used to doing (and you don't want to be poor again too). I think it's more about the culture of showing people that he had 'arrived' with the rich class of people.

some that were never rich handle it well when they are and some dont. some may have come into money at a very young age that never really had to take care of themselves til then. like say many sports athletes when they turn pro. really can hurt themselves if their career doesnt pan out. just hope they have good people around that can give them good advice and not a bunch of hanger on yes men.

Benefits should only be a short term measure except for the severely disabled.

Well personally I think it's a bit out of order to say that anyone 'belongs' on welfare and should remain unemployed but okay...

I agree with Jack, nobody 'belongs' on welfare, the idea is that it's a support system, not a prison sentence or a punishment or something you 'deserve to be on' in a negative sense...

Not really, my favourites are Luisa and Jim  I just think the idea of saying anyone actually 'belongs' on welfare support and as if they deserve to remain unemployed is quite disgusting really, but then maybe that's just me

..it's also sometimes the case with lottery winners because they might not know how to invest their money/are badly advised or just go a bit spending crazy because they've never been able to do that before...Evander could have had some bad advisors and accountants and not even have known what his finances were...
