all of the shots represent and embody the albums themes & sounds - the darkness of Rated R and Unapologetic, the bad girl attitude of TTT, the fun sassy carefreeness of Loud (and red wasn't just a random colour it was a motif of the era [idk if that's the right word but you get what I mean]), the pretty elegant laid back feel of AGLM, the slick sexy independent nature of GGGB and the sunny bright island feel of Music of the Sun. That actually can't be said for a lot of albums by other pop stars which are usually just random pretty photos

Not all album covers have to be groundbreaking or based on art movements. For a pop star that would look pretentious anyway

I like that you're explaining the artistry behind the photos of Rihanna but disregard album covers that don't have the artist's face featured on them :laugh: such albums usually have a reason for that too - a conscious choice to not have the artist's face on the artwork in favour of something else that is related to the content. I'm not saying her album covers don't have any depth, I just think it's a bit samey because they're all of her face. I think that about plenty of popstars whose albums are always just close ups of their face - it's not interesting to look at, it's just a glaring reminder of whose album you've bought. It doesn't even matter anyway, you don't buy an album because of the artwork, you buy it because of the music. The artwork is just something to go along with the music.
