You obviously couldn't be bothered to read the whole article. She goes on to praise the housemates and the show.

I was surprised to read how strict BB still are, she was locked in a hotel with no tv or phone and was blindfolded and had ear muffs on on launch night not to see who else was entering. Same as the old days.

So according to Liz Linda was self harming in the bathroom _ why wasn't she removed for being unstable?

Sam was showering with the door open - We never saw anything like this.

A male hm took alcohol and sleeping tabs because they were so distressed - wtf?

The crew members was only giving Ollie and Sam prompts for the task

And Linda's husband died less than a year ago - He died in 2007

How do you measure what upsets somebody enough to make them feel as though they may self harm though?

I know a girl who did it because she got bullied at school, she used to pull strands of her hair out (Trichotillomania) because she was so miserable in school - Another person my Mum used to give a lift to work used to self harm because she was ill and struggling with money and she felt self harming was a way on controlling her pain. Sorry to babble on but it's just examples of my point.

What I'm saying is different things can set different people off, what you and I view as gentle prodding or a bit of nothing could seriously effect another person.

If Linda was self harming in there and the producers agreed that it was Jim that caused it then they would have removed him from the house, they have psychologists on hand to deal with that sort of thing, and I'm guessing they will be a lot more clued about things like that than me you or anyone else on this forum.

Linda's sister also said she was unstable before she even entered the house.

Since when have the BB psychologists been reliable? they famously failed and let unstable people enter the house.

My point still stands that Jim's treatment towards her caused her suffice distress that she self harmed (if Liz is to be believed). I'm not even putting the blame on Jim, she was obviously not stable enough to be there to begin with but apparently his comments didn't help her.

It's a great article, but typical of Liz Jones. She really doesn't really understand that she might hurt people when she writes about them like that. She has fallen out with friends after writing about them, and she had to move house because of writing about all the locals. If she hadn't described the HMs as "stupid" it wouldn't have been bad, but it's snobbish to dismiss others and feel superior to them because of your intellect - everyone has something different to offer.

Yes and Jim comes across as a rude, sexist and underhanded moron to me and quiet a few others. We don't care for this every excuse under the sun from his fans to justify his behavior, it is how we perceive him, just like Liz perceives Jim and she was there first hand. So no, she is not wrong, you may not like nor agree with it, but that still doesn't make her wrong.

It just makes me wonder what else she got wrong in that article.

It also makes me wonder why some people are so blind to the fact that BB shows us only 45 minutes of footage from a 24 hour a day, and if people don't get by now they select footage very carefully to portray housemates in certain ways then there is no helping those people. Her article is stretched a bit for the papers, but the fact you have quite a few of the housemates who cannot stand Jim it really says something about him.

Describing people as "stupid", "inane", "so-called intelligent" and saying that reality show viewers are "secretaries, supermarket till operatives and hair salon creatives" etc. is very intellectually snobby, and the article would have been nicer if she'd omitted that sort of thing.

I agree, but these are real people she is talking about, and it seems hurtful to describe them as "stupid" or "inane", especially when she herself hardly opened her mouth for the first two weeks. She has been equally "pragmatic" about friends, neighbours and other people she knows who are not celebs. Most of them are no longer talking to her. ;)

Ho hum. I was giving some examples to someone who was wondering in what way the piece was snobby. I liked the piece too. No probs if you don't agree that by describing the viewers of reality shows as till ops and hairdressers, rather than doctors and lawyers she is displaying intellectual snobbery.

There is no such thing as personal objectivity. As soon as you have an opinion, you could be seen as biased one way or the other. Liz is no more biased than the Jim loving audience or any other Jim fans, so what's your point?
