Both of mine are dead now.
I absolutely adored my dad and we got on great.
My mother was a different kettle of fish and the less said the better.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that smudgie.
..I only have my mum but I always got on with both of them equally and had a different relationship with each of them..my dad was always the 'wise one'/my guru..my mum kept me safe and warm....

I adore both of them...I talk more to my mum but that's because she's more chatty than my dad.

both my mam (I don't say mum and never have done) and dad are dead, dad died 21 years ago mam just in 2012. I got on very well with my dad he used to cook me delish chips when I went home drunk after a night out, don't think I ever used to go to a take away. Got on very well with my mam too and im very glad to say the last day I spent with her before she passed away, I went for tea on the fri which wasn't arranged I just called but stayed for tea and we had a really great laugh about something ridiculous. we watched home & away as usual then she died on the Monday. So glad the last time I saw her was a happy fun time.

I got on with my mom much better, but she's dead now.
When I was younger though I definitely felt like I was competing with my dad for attention from her. Total oedipal complex. I get along with him really well now that she's dead though.
When I'm a Dad someday I will make sure that my husband and I never compete for our children's affection. My dad is quite childish though, and he liked my mom to mother him, because I think he had a lot of issues with his own mother. I could always feel him being jealous when my Mom gave me more attention and affection than she gave him.
After my mom died though, he's treated me much better.

Oh I couldn't choose. I don't even have like one parent I go to with problems and one parent I go to for a laugh or whatever, they both kinda provide it all really... I feel so lucky to have such great parents
