View Full Version : Everyone should thank Linda...
It can’t be denied that Jim and Luisa have made the show entertaining but it is Linda (like her or not, and I don’t) who was the catalyst that made this one of the best CBB’s ever. (And most agree that it has been). Since she went out, it’s been boring tbh. The other main theme, the ‘love triangle’ was just a distracting sideshow and on its own it wouldn’t have made the series so watchable. No, it was the Jim/Linda dynamic that had most people riveted.
Jim played a blinder of a game when Linda was there. She handed the poor victim role to him on a plate and he cleverly used it to the fullest advantage with his manipulation and passive aggressive skills.
Since she has been gone, his guard has slipped. He is working the public like puppets as usual, but he has over played his hand.
The set – up talk with Luisa about not being sexist – does anyone really believe that a man who has been working the comedy circuit for years and uses sexist jokes as part of his act was really only discovering for the first time that he might be sexist and asking a young girl for her opinion?
Then the staged talk with Ollie to show the viewers he wasn’t homophobic. Why would he ask a bisexual man if he had a ‘boyfriend’ on the outside? Why not just ‘someone special’? Why even ask when he knew Ollie wanted to be with Sam? Does Ollie seem like a two – timer?
Both those examples were so cringe worthy and obvious. There have been numerous other little things that can be spotted if you aren’t wearing rose tinted glasses. Then his perving on Casey – will the majority of the voting GBP think that is as appropriate, funny and ‘heart warming’ as so many do here?
Has he blown it since Linda left? I think it’s probably too late to stop his win. I think Jim deserves to win anyway for suckering so many people into voting for him. Without Linda, he may not have done it judging from his performance since she left.
So I think he may have it in the bag. The GBP will get the winner they deserve – a piss and **** the bed fairly brainless winner last time, a pervy bigot this time. Somehow GB doesn’t seem so Great any more.
But it was a great series, and you should all thank Linda for that!

What part of just want him to win for his sheer gameplaying are you guys not getting, not planning on meeting up with Jim or going to one of his shows or anything else to do with him, would like him to win over Ollie and Sam for sheer entertainment value. If Dappy or Luisa win that is fine too.

I agree with the OP, and no, the GBP are not gullible. Most people were prepared to give Jim a chance, and accept him at face value, and some are still prepared to kinda overlook his flaws, while others are not.
I wanted Linda out so I could see the true Jim emerge.. It was nice to see his love for his daughter, his affinity with Dappy and his wise words to Luisa. However, his jokes are all old: stolen from other comics; his comments are quotes from others: "It's like a house with the children gone".. and "If you can fake sincerity.." For me, his only good, original line was "Shove the knives up your arse then". Is that enough to win? Nah. Not in my book. He'll win because of his big fanbase, Linda and his game-playing. I hope he never graces my screen again. I'm not that into old jokes.

I understand that many want Jim to win for his gameplaying and being entertaining. What I don't get is that many defend his every word and action and see him as someone who can do absolutely nothing wrong. That is humanly impossible, yet they have an excuse for everything. Is that gullibility or just plain dishonesty? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But it's still very annoying. That is why I left the forum and only came back for the final day.
I actually defended Jim on several occasions when I thought it was justified. But the OTT Jim defense puts his non fans even more against him. That's human nature.
For me personally I prefer HM's who I perceive to be non gameplayers. I rarely support someone I don't like, no matter how entertaining they have been. I could never vote for someone whose morals and values I perceive to be so opposed to my own. I could never vote for someone whose behaviour in the house seems fake to me or makes me squirm.
Others don't mind any of those things as long as they have been entertained, and that is their prerogative. It's a game, and many appreciate a good gameplayer. It's the OTT defense that's off putting....

What a dreary and boring post.
What you have failed to realise is that it is infact Jim who gave linda her story line. Without Jim, linda would have been one of the most boring housemates of all time, what with her bingo wings and sour face she'd have had the viewers turning off in their droves.
No it is Jim and his one liners, and witty replies to ALL housemates and his generally caring towards the younger housemates that have carried the show through to it's end.
Linda will soon be forgotten and left dredging some cess pit along with coleen and the rest of the saggy old loose women for eternity maybe appearing now and again in a pity appearance for carol voldermans turn to bore us to death on cbb.

Don't quite get where you are coming from....all I can say is all throughout the series Jim has bee labelled...you cannot go through over three weeks not being yourself....all the sexist seeds planted by bitter Linda Nolan were used as an excuse to crucify him....both by forum members and certain housemates...I asked on this forum for examples and I had 2 examples back (one lame one being he said it himself) the other was similarly weak. Jim asked Luisa for examples....she had none. What you see is what you see and he seems a genuine nice bloke who was labelled simply because his old material as a comedian was based on sexism.
He deserves the win and the anti Jim brigade must be desperate to jump on the bandwagon for every little comment.
Linda Nolan should be thanking Jim for making her realise she needs some therapy....because it's really not good to let something eat away at you like that and end up becoming so bitter.

Yep Jim's been great on CBB and the majority of viewers and voters seem to agree.
There will always be the few who refuse to see the good in him, no matter what he does but that's often the way with big characters on BB. You can't please everyone.

You are not a great ambassador for Jim, you know. He wants to get away from the image of being a sexist bigot who may or may not have commited a variety of crimes against women. At least other fans are able to be more objective and can offer intelligent comment on whatever is being discussed.

I don't see anything wrong with any contestant including Luisa, Linda and Jim discussing their sex lives on TV, as long as it isn't done to make someone else feel uncomfortable. Jim implied to Luisa that he'd been to more sex parties than her, and that's fine with me. :) I'm fine with BB's naughty humour, and I am fine with any comedian making a joke about sex. Personal comments are a different thing.

ALL sold out? OK if you insist :conf: How many "millions" attended? Did he work 24/7 for those ten years. Considering he was living as a tax exile in Dubai for some of that time(and even then was declared bankrupt by the inland revenue in 2006) I seriously doubt it. I also doubt that he ever had a fanbase of millions throughout his entire career.

Still missing the FACT. FACT, FACT, everytime he performed he sold out.

To millions? I don't think so which was the basis of your argument. I also only have your word on that FACT!

Hi jet and I am really glad you are posting again, that is fantastic to see.
Sadly I cannot thank Linda for anything at all except making herself look so bad that the viewers who vote, voted her out at the very first opportunity they got to.
Also, maybe against the majority view,I actually prefer the Jim of the days since the miserable Nolan left, to the Jim who was having to virtually tread on eggshells around Linda Nolan and the people she so nastily tried to influence.
My hope is that on any BB series in the future, there are no more Nolans.

Gerneration Game in the nineties watched by millions. Big Break in the naughties watched by millions. Stand-up shows watched by millions.
Your next silly point.?

jim was lovely to linda , obviously she was pute hate to jim throughout, but jimbo repsonded with love patience and humour
what nasty comments. Take a look at jim next time you have half a chance: He's no oil-painting. At least linda conducted herself in an age appropriate way and didn't sleeze up to ollie or lee and make crude jokes about their sexual organs, or her sexual arousal.
You are not a great ambassador for jim, you know. He wants to get away from the image of being a sexist bigot who may or may not have commited a variety of crimes against women. At least other fans are able to be more objective and can offer intelligent comment on whatever is being discussed.
no need to pick on jims looks!!!

I was actually glad she left, she didn't make CBB, she actually made it hard to watch, she actually rubbed off her sour face on pretty much everyone, this years CBB would probably be 10 times better with Linda not going in, I mean look at the house when she left, absolute no arguing and they had some good laughs in there, yes we know we love a good barny but still, it's even better when it's funny
