That older HMs (over 40) can be great. Only Evander was dull. OLLIE and Sam were far more boring than the oldies.

I like a good mix of ages, it makes it far more interesting.

I think most of us have been crying out for a couple of older housemates like these for the civilian series. Whether they can find some is another story but they have been good.

I've said it for years, older HM's are far better value for entertainment than the younger ones, who only pout to camera be bland sit on the fence and always look at themselves in the mirror.

They were all fantastic

They should put a few more older ones in the normal series, not just one per series (Victoria - BB13, Jackie - BB14).

Yeah I agree, when they put only one in they often distance themselves because they feel "too old", get nominated, and are out in the first few weeks

They definitely need 3 older Hms.

BB5's Ahmed is still best over 40 whilst Bb12 winner Aaron Allard Morgan still best 30 and over and my fav Hms.

Lionel was great value and was way worst behaved and more rebellious than Ollie, he probably swore more than Dappy and wasn't afraid to face Luisa in rows (eg Old folks home row and chocolate row).

I wish they would put a wider age range in the BB house.
Much more interesting.

Although Jim's a comic he was a good older hm that younger viewers could connect to. Better than Paddy.

Exactly, they get isolated and it ends up pretty pointless casting as they're early eviction fodder.

They got it exactly right this year with the mixture of old and young.

Jackie was good worth in BB14 as well for a talking point to.

But there has been plenty of over 40 duds.

Ahmed was the only oldie in bb5 but was a great hm in a grrat series. Just hope c5 don't over look his kind.

Yep, an easy nomination for all the other housemates, and then it's a house full of young wannabes! i definitely agree that the younger: older ratio was perfect this year

I didn't like Paddy. No idea how he won. :conf2:

Paddy won by default. The alternatives being Kerry Katona, Jedward, Darryn Lyons and Amy Childs.

I think the mistake they make with older housemates is not putting enough of them in when they do put one in. 4 is a good number to put in; that way they aren't immediately marginalised because of their age.

I like a mix of ages as to housemates too, one of my Aunts is getting on and has hardly ever watched BB but she watched this series for Jim and Lionel..

However in the end she wanted Dappy to win, this series has attracted a much wider audience in my view so I hope they keep to a winning formula.

Lionel was superb, he's in most of my favourite moments of the series.

Even Evander brought out discussions on the Forums though, only Sam, Ollie, and Casey were really dull for me and they was all the young & the beautiful type.

..I think older people do quite well in the celebrity one, we've had Denise and Paddy and probably a few others that I can't remember...I don't think we've had an older person win the civilian one yet though, have we..?..

Plus he was great at plotting with jungle cats and gave great 1 liners: "bb im not a sandwich" and spelling out his name "a is for amazing, h is for handsome etc". My fav moment was not flinching whilst rowing with bare breasted Michelle.

the oldest civilian series winners I think were bb4 cameron and bb12 aaron

I think it's a good idea to a have right mix of ages old & young especially in the civillian series, but I have to say I much prefer to watch the older HM's.
