So young :(
Its awful that one of the first things I thought when I clicked on who he was (not good with actors names) was how are they going to do his part in mockingjay now..as he has quite a large part in that one

Loved the Big Lebowski, The Master (he was stunning in that), the Talented Mr. Ripley, Synecdoche New York, Doubt, The Boat that Rocked, and I'm sure there're many more I haven't yet seen I'll grow to love.
He's probably most widely known for the Hunger Games, Mission Impossible 3 and Capote

gutted to hear this tragic news
a truly brilliant actor
I am not one of these people who think actors are over rated luvvies....I love movies, I love proper serious actors like hoffman just like the brandos, newmans, lancasters, pacinos, bogarts, cagneys, vivien leighs, fondas, bronsons, bergmans, deniros, lemons, etc in their prime... think great actors are important and enrich our lives....he did that....
I liked every performance I saw him give.
my favourite was scent of a woman , the big lebowski , the master, talented mr ripley, capote, boat that rocked, charlie wilsons war, patch adams boogie nights, twister and magnolia...he was also brilliant in flawless with deniro..not seen hunger games yet
a very intelligent powerful yet subtle actor, you could always see his brain at work.....Ill be sure to trawl through his vast body of work as a tribute to a brilliant talent
rip mr seymour hoffman

..yeah, I agree..a great actor gives you more than just a movie because you often believe in the character that they're playing as well...that's the magic of movies...just so terribly sad, he was always one of my favourite ..I don't think I've ever seen him in a movie when his presence hasn't 'lifted' it...

Still can't believe how young he was and that he had 3 relatively young kids
Probably the facial hair
What a sad waste of life. He had kids, was respected in his field, I mean I don't know his life or why he was on drugs, maybe he was depressed, maybe he just liked the escapism of it, but it's like when Amy Winehouse died... it's not that I don't have sympathy I just can't really feel sad about these things when that person was pushing themselves to that point, it wasn't a tragic accident... when you think of heroin addiction you do think of ravaged people who can't string a sentence together but Corey Monteith's death and now Philip Seymour Hoffman's death just go to show that you can't always tell by looking at a person that they have a drug problem that's spiralled out of control... :/

Generally speaking drug addictions aren't a "why am I doing this?" kind of thing, but a "I have to do this" one...
