No, I do think part of our taxes should be spent getting these people back on their feet.
I believe giving to beggars only encourages begging.

There are no homeless people in my small town, only Eastern Europeans with big issue magazines who pretend to be poor and drive nice cars.

I give money to very few people, I'm a scrooge,
But there is this one Big Issue guy who is amazing, He talks to everyone, high fives everyone and has such a good rapport so for the fact he makes me feel good I make sure whenever the big issue is next out I buy I from him and him only. Honestly this guy is a legend of Bristol.

Yes I'm awful. I gave my lunch money to a homeless person once and I don't eat that day D:
...not really, but I always give some to the guy in town who gives out the Big Issue, but I don't take a Big Issue from him...

Yes, I am always aware that I am lucky in many ways, many people for whatever reasons fall on hard times.
Where I am, there are only a small number of people who are homeless and sitting in the streets of the town, I have got to talk to them and do give them money, I generally suggest taking them for a meal too however and quite honestly I have had better conversations with them than a lot of others in my life.
My fury lies with places like Churches that preach giving to others yet some of these homeless are out all night, all nights of the year and all weathers, while their church doors are firmly locked.
Anyway, yes I do, I only wish those I give to would let me try to do more but I guess they feel if anything good happens it will likely be taken off them again in the future sometime.

If i am drunk and in a good mood. I do sometimed buy hot drinks/food for them though if I have a bit cash on me..though I have been told thats insulting..if i was homeless and someone gave me food i would be grateful..not worrying thst they branded me an addict

No. But a buy a Big Issue and don't mind donating to Shelter or another homeless charity.
No. I don't know these people, I don't know how they ended up there but I do know that there are better ways to go about helping yourself than just sitting defeated on a pavement trying to get spare change from people. Usually suspect they're drug addicts and have no sympathy, don't really care if that makes me horrible.

Yeah, i agree with you on that one. Always happy to put some money in a charity box or buy a big issue though

Yeah I do, especially if they have dogs with them or they're quite old. I always buy day tickets for the tube in London and give a homeless person my ticket before I get on the bus home. I guess they sell it on?

Hardly ever, a lot aren't even homeless. I have offered to buy food for some people but they just want cigarettes or cash. I don't mind giving them a cig if I'm in a good mood.
Nah.
I once sat on the floor outside McDonald's because it was packed and someone flung 50p at me. I must look like a tramp :umm2:

I don't really go into the city centre that often, and then it's mainly to eat, so I don't actually see any/many homeless people about, but I have volunteered for the last couple of Christmases, and I also take part in some fund raising with a homeless organisation called St. Basils. I do a sponsored "sleep rough night" and a few other things for them.
