The Sochi Olympics kick off today. Norwegian singer Annie and Norwegian visual artist Bjarne Melgaard have shared "Russian Kiss", their protest song and short film aimed at Russian President Vladimir Putin's regime and its anti-gay laws. Watch the film, directed by Richard Kern, below. (It's not safe for work if your work environment is unaccepting of same-sex makeouts.)
Part of the proceeds from the song—which was made with the support of Norwegian free-speech foundation Fritt Ord—will go to the gay rights advocacy non-profit All Out.
Not the catchiest tune but I love the message of it and the video is really cool!

Brilliant message :worship:
And it's insane to think that if it was made in russian, the singer, musician & actors in the vid (and everyone associated with it) could be arrested.

Russians think we are perverts then this song openly shows men and women kissing semi naked.
I don't think this will do the gay people there any favours if anything it will cause more hatred and fear.
Would rather have seen a video of same sex couples getting married, raising kids, gay policemen/women/teachers ect just doing all the normal stuff would send a far more powerful message.

Isn't she just. It's a bit of a touchy subject ever since chewing gum was legalised over there.

:worship: Totally agree. The message is well meaning but I think it's more damaging than harmful. But then again, it's Annie, barely anybody pays attention to her anyway.
