Athletes that won their events today and have guaranteed their place at the World Indoors for Team GB:

Andy Vernon - 3000m
Will Sharman - 60mH (Depending on whether joint winners can automatically qualify)
Andy Pozzi - 60mH (Depending on whether joint winners can automatically qualify)
Holly Bleasdale - Pole Vault
Asha Phillip - 60m
James Dasaolu - 60m

Also, Katarina Johnson-Thompson broke the British Indoor High Jump record today, jumping 1.96. She's looking to go to the World Indoors for the Pentahlon but she has to be invited to do so.

Some good races tomorrow, mainly finals.

Shame about Dasaolu, his time would have been amazing on the weekend without the injury, really impressive run by Asha as well to keep in touch wit h Fraser Pryce and Ahoure, Dibaba though this year >

Lavillenie not competing at the World Indoors due to injury after breaking the World Record, so that gives Luke Cutts a good chance at a Gold medal :amazed:

Laura Muir, Luke Cutts and Holly Bleasdale seem to be our only genuine Gold medal hopes. Dwain Chambers, Tiffany Porter, Asha Philip, and the 4X400 relay squads are also good chances of contesting for a medal.

The World Junior Championships start on Wednesday, it's on Eurosport if you want to watch it. It lasts for 6 days, and the last few days of it clash with the Commonwealths.

Morgan Lake, Dina Asher Smith and Desiree Henry are some the big names representing Team GB, as well as Zharnel Hughes who is from Anguilla but will most likely represent Britain at the next Olympics due to Anguilla not being eligible to compete in Olympics. He's broke Yohan Blake's and Usain Bolt's junior records too.

US hasn't been off to much a good start all in World Juniors (lane violation for Shaina Burns in the Hep 200, Haley Showalter fouling all her HTs, Raevyn Rogers and Sabrina Southerland not making the 800 final, Ariana Washington randomly dropping into 11.6-11.7 range - I could go on and on) but an awesome 1-2 finish in the mens 100 with Kendal Williams and Trayvon Bromell (who has a sub 10 PR ), even crazier considering Trentavis Friday ran 10.00 in the US Junior prelims and false started the final. Also 11.45 into a headwind for bronze isn't bad at all for Kaylin Whitney. 16 years old and broke the US high school record with 11.10 at US Juniors so she should have a bright future (except for the fact that she trains with a bunch of professional dopers but yeah.)

I'm not as in touch with the British stuff but I try to be as well-informed as I can (along with Canada and Australia, basically any country with English-speaking BB #shameless) and Dina Asher-Smith won the 100 in 11.23 and Morgan Lake with 6148.

Another interesting note - no Jamaican in either 100 final

Dina Asher Smith and Morgan Lake both getting gold for GB :worship:

I expects DAS will claim another Gold in the 200m (Kaylin Whitney seems to be a one-hit wonder with her WLs she set - not showing great form at the moment but she's only 16 so it's a new experience for her I suppose).

Morgan Lake has been entered for the High Jump too - if she does it I expect she'll easily medal, providing there are no fluff ups. Gold is a probable possibility again.

It's been quite good so far, I'm enjoying it more than I was expecting to. I like how it will finish just as the Commonwealth Athletics starts too! :p

(Kaylin Whitney seems to be a one-hit wonder with her WLs she set - not showing great form at the moment but she's only 16 so it's a new experience for her I suppose).

Conditions were near perfect at US Juniors so that certainly played in her favor. Also she trains with Star Athletics, which is Dennis Mitchell (drug cheat), Damu Cherry (drug cheat), and Justin Gatlin (drug cheat)'s training group in Florida. I wouldn't dare accuse a 16 year old of doping but unfortunately when you surround yourself with people like that you're going to draw some suspicion eventually.

Morning session is closing to wrapping up on the track with 400 hurdle prelims for girls. Shamier Little (US) and Shona Richards (I'm sure you guys know more about her than me) should do well. The same of it all is that Sydney McLaughlin's 55.63 at US Juniors doesn't matter because she's only 14 (too young to make the US Junior team.) Was beating Little for most of the race until she stuttered on a few end hurdles per usual and Little's strength took over at the end.

And I must say after watching a few interviews with Dina Asher-Smith she's a sweetheart ^_^

Headie
25-07-2014, 01:11 AM
^Yeah I'm suspicious of Kaylin Whitney tbh, but I'd rather think positive than negative. I'm surprised how poorly the jamaicans have been doing so far.

US Girls run away with the 4x1 in 43.46 (Daniels, Washington, Martin, Whitney I believe)

38.70 for US boys to win the 4x1 on pure speed. Handoffs were horrible and they were pretty much even with Jamaica and Japan at the final exchange (despite Bromell destroying the second leg and Williams destroying the third leg.) After Friday switches hands like an idiot he leaves everyone in the dust and wins for the US.

Last day of World Juniors and off to a good start for USA, Kendell Williams and Dior Hall go 1-2 in 100H. First time under 13 for Hall and it should be a national HS record, fantastic end to a high school career (she also broke the 60H national record in her final indoor meet so that's sweet.)

Bailey Roth lowers his HSR in the 3000SC by about 1 second in only his third time running it

Elise Cranny and Alexa Efraimson running the 1500 now, could be the first time US ever medals in this event on the junior level

Cranny's up front but boxed in, Efraimson is in a perfect position right on the outside of lane 1

Cranny sneaks into fourth and Efraimson fades into sixth I think?

Yup, Cranny in 4:12.82 and Efraimson 4:13.31. Took 4:11.21 to medal, still stellar job by both of them. Best year for American girls distance in a long time with them, Cain, and Baxter

I'm having a week-long holiday in London, and as I was travelling to London on the train today, Andy Turner (110mH Commonwealth Champion 2010) was heading back from Glasgow after a disappointing crash out in the heats earlier in the week. No one else on the train seemed to recognise him but he seemed a bit baffled when I asked him if he was Andy Turner and if I could have a photo :joker: He was really nice and friendly, I think athletes in Athletics deserve a lot more recognition than they get. He was travelling in standard class ffs, a commonwealth champion surrounded by screaming babies and loud yellers having conversations across the carriage :joker:
