Listened to this straight off the back of the doors movie. Seems really poignant because this was in a way his swan song, Jim Morrison was back to his best and yet, not long after he relocated to France and subsequently died. Changeling, L.A woman and Texas Radio and the big beat were my highlights.

Significance
I loved this album when everyone else hated it.
What can be said of this masterpiece? Let’s start with, 18 tracks on a single album and I’m struggling to find one duffer. There are a couple of interludes but even they are integral to the concept. Another thing that can be said - and I would agree - this is possibly the greatest concept album of all time. Most people hate concept albums but few people hate this album.
This album was the first to fully ‘glorify’ the hip-hop life of crime and for that alone is hugely influential. However don’t let that put you off. This album is very much a rise and fall story. The fall is much more important than the rise.
It’s not for everyone – I think you have to be quite deep into your hip hop to truly get it and it’s another of those albums where you probably won’t like it on the first listen – you definitely won’t get the subtlety of the lyrics and the beauty of the storytelling but keep listening and you’ll get why this is a true hip hop classic made in the days when some said hip hop would never last. I doubt it will hit these heights again – I think the whole genre of hip hop no longer exists and has been replaced by radio friendly gobbledegook - but this album tick all the boxes; not fully appreciated on release, hugely influential, very little commercial success etc. A true masterpiece in every sense of the word.
Wrong band, **** :fist:

The Wishing Chair by 10,000 Manics
Released in 1985
First year I listened to it properly was 2009 or 2010
The significance is, well I discovered 10,000 Maniacs in my father's music collection. And I used to listen to dark and depressing music, but I dunno, I just got tired of it. And I sought out new sounds. 10,000 Maniacs had one hell of an intriguing name and I was sure they'd be of same caliber of music was I kinda leaving behind.
I gave them a try anyway and instantly fell head over heels in love with Natalie Merchant's voice. I listened to her songs a lot and over the last few years I've looked into the meaning behind her words, that gave me a new appreciation for her.
