Mrs Brown's Boys cartoon to be made this year, says Rory Cowan

Mrs Brown's Boys will reportedly be made into a cartoon later this year.

The BBC One and RTÉ One sitcom's latest version is expected to enter production in the summer.

The full cast will record their lines for the show in front a live audience, once the Mrs Brown's Boys movie is released in June.

Actor Rory Cowan told the Irish Daily Star: "It will be a mix of storylines we've seen on the main shows, as well as a few other things thrown in to make them different.

"The logic is that it can be sent to all English-speaking countries, and dubbed so it can be used across the world."

Cowan - who plays Mrs Brown's son Rory - said of the production aspect of the show: "Everything we've ever done has a live audience except for the movie. It makes the process enjoyable and it gives us instant feedback."

has not been confirmed if the show will be recorded in London or Dublin.

Powerhouse Animation previously made the pilot episode back in 2012, and also created the titles of the original series.

On when fans can expect the cartoon series, Cowan added: "The earliest we'll see it is in 2015. Recording the voices is the first part - the animation is what will take a long time."
