Since today is dilemma day...

Michael had several friends including Roger and Daniel. Roger has recently met and started dating a wonderful lady named Fanny. He is convinced this is a long term relationship. Unknown to Roger Fanny is the wife of his other friend Daniel.

Michael is deciding whether to tell Roger that Fanny is married when he receives a call from Daniel. Daniel suspects his wife is having an affair and since they and Michael share many friends and contacts, he asks if Michael has heard anything regarding an affair.

To whom does Michael owe greater friendship to in this situation? No matter who he tells, he is going to end up hurting one, if not both friends. Does he remain silent and hope his knowledge is never discovered?

I think, if it were me, I would be telling Roger that Fanny is married - he has less invested at this point and then the onus is on him to end the relationship or at least confront Fanny to see what her true intentions /feelings are. I would be loathe to tell Michael and be the cause of a marriage ending.

Michael should tell Roger that fanny is married and also Daniel that she has been fannying about behind his back. Either way someone is going to Roger Fanny and it may aswell be Michael. It wasn't his cock-up so whoever he loses as a friend has themselves to blame.

Michael should tell Fanny he knows all about it and she has 24 hours to fess up, or he's going to spill the beans.

there was a real life situation about a year ago amonst older friends,
a devorced female in the group was having an affair with the new husband of another friend

other's in the group told the woman having the affair that she needed to stop;

that woman then confessed to the other friend, whose husband she was cheating with,

in the end the husband and wife are still toger and the group still see each other including the woman that cheated!.

strange but true!

Michael should tell Daniel that he'll see if he can find anything out for him (that way if he ever finds out that Michael knew anything, Michael can say he found out after they'd spoken) and then tell Roger, confront Fanny and wait to see what Fanny does next.

Michael should find Fanny and then go and tell this bitch to stop having an affair.

I would have a word with both Roger and Fanny separately, to give them both the opportunity of ending things.

Ideally I'd say it to roger first but I would find it hard to lie to Daniels face if he asked me directly if I knew anything
