I prefer 56k dial up
Its very good for porn as you have to wait for the page to load and as it happens it reveals the naked lady gradually

Someone either fudged the facts or misunderstood the terminology; you need a 10gbps connection to download 800MB in under a second. A 1gbps connection would take 8 seconds. Not that that wouldnt still be amazing.
The "b" in gbps refers to bits, not bytes. There are 10 bits in a byte. E.g. a 50mbps current fibre optic connection downloads a file at 5MB (megabytes) per second, not 50. Currently an 800MB film takes 2 minutes 40 seconds on a 50mbps connection, not 24 seconds.
Of course this mixed terminology is deliberately designed to confuse broadband consumers, in my opinion, and at some point we should make the switch to referring to broadband speeds in mega / gigabytes not bits in retail terms.
Just being pedantic...

Yes good advice. All I know is that it takes me 3.5 hours to download one episode of "Big Boobed Dutch Nuns MUST be punished"
and for me that is 3.4 hours too long

there's no fun and anticipation with high speed internet, I said it in another thread there's always a sort of buzz of having to wait 5-10-15 minutes for music/a film to download
I doubt we will ever have great internet, we don't even have proper broadband where I live :bored:

I've actually said before, I had better appreciation for music in my teens when I was downloading on a 56k dial up modem! A 5mb MP3 took about 15 minutes to download... so if I was downloading a 10-track album it took several hours, and as each track was downloading, I listened to the newest downloaded one three to five times. By the time I had thr full album, I already knew which tracks I loved.
Now I can get an entire album in under two minutes and half the time I barely listen to it at all :/.

Porm was also like roulette. Spend half an hour maintaining an erection until a 2 minute long clip has downloaded, and just pray that it's a good 'un. More than half of the time they were awful :(

Don't really care about this, I don't mind waiting half an hour or so to download a film anyway. Seems odd to be promoting downloading movies and such while apparently trying to crack down on piracy, but nevermind
Also think there are better things he should be spending his time on tbh...but I guess its possible he can multitask :suspect:
