View Full Version : watching men snogging

is this becoming acceptable or more the norm nowadays to see men or women snogging on the streets
all this talk of legislating for everything is one thing, but social behaviour and human behaviour cannot always be legislated for
is homosexuality still something kept behind closed doors more than out in the open. would gay people ion this site feel comfortable snogging on the street or in a restaurant? would hetro people feel comfortable doing that? would you feel comfortable seeing 2 men or women snogging anywhere
also the actual act of anal sex. is this something you now find more natural and quite simply something some men do.

Regardless of sexuality there is a time and a place for full on snogging.
I think it's still something that's mostly done behind closed doors. Baby steps, really. Until the law adequately protects gay people, I don't imagine many gay people would feel comfortable being openly affectionate. But to be honest, you don't see that many heterosexual people doing public displays of affection either, I think it's generally accepted that it's a bit gross regardless of who's doing it

Like Ben, I think there's a time and a place. However, if people want to express their love I don't see any difference whether it's a man and a woman, two women or two men.

Both sexes can and do take part in anal sex so I have no idea why you only mentioned men in your post.
As to snogging in the street well I don't have a problem with anyone doing it, it's not something I personally do but each to their own.

No idea what anal sex has got to do with anything
I'd imagine it depends on the area you're in whether two gay men or women would feel comfortable doing it, probably depends on the types of people they are too (whether they give a sh*t what other people think or not). I would like to think most people wouldn't think twice about it if they saw it happening but I imagine there's still some who make comments
I see no reason for any couple to snog each other in public, a quick peck on the cheek is the maximum public display of affection that is acceptable
I feel a bit queasy seeing folk with their tongues down each other throats regardless of their gender.
And people tend to have anal sex in private (again, regardless of gender) so it's none of my business really.
Regardless of sexuality there is a time and a place for full on snogging.
This.
I always think it's nice when you see same sex couples holding hands in the street but then get really self conscious about not wanting to seem like I'm staring at them for the wrong reasons so either don't take a second look or smile at them so they know I'm not judging
When I lived in Germany I used to see lots of lesbian couples openly doing PDA on the main streets, it was a bit surprising but where I lived was a very multicultural sort of place so it didn't really seem odd
Vanessa

a bit of handholding is probably as far as most people get in public unless you are under 16 then it's a bit of a awkward clinch in a shopping centre, as witnessed by my very own eyes the other day. Anal sex is not something you will see in a bus queue so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
off topic I used to read Zee as Zee and now I see he has been Zed all along. It doesn't feel right.

The men having anal behind closed doors isn't really relevant as women love a bit of anal to and hopefully neither sex with do it on my local high street.
I have kissed/held hands with a long term bf in the past and once got abused for it. I don't feel safe doing it in public and wish I didn't care but the fact is people still judge.
Even though I find snogging in public between any sexuality a bit embarrassing its a fact 2 men kissing will definitely still cause a lot of offence which people are entitled to feel they cant help being offended everyone needs time and education to come round to certain things.
People are slowly coming around but im not naïve enough to think it will ever be totally accepted but I also agree that some homosexuals shouldn't do it so blatantly as some do do it as a statement and just to show they CAN. All that really does is spread the hate and hinders the progression towards a more positive attitude. Not only that but they are endangering themselves which is a sad fact.

Overly long PDA doesn't really nauseate me or something, it just makes me roll my eyes if anything. I think if you have to be really all over each other in public then you're compensating for something. A short kiss doesn't bother me at all really however.
That said, I would feel really uncomfortable kissing a boyfriend in public. Mostly because I'd be terrified if someone said something to me because well.. I've never dealt with that kinda thing face to face before.
Jessica.

If gay men want to engage in anal sex then that has nothing to do with whether I'm comfortable with it or find it natural because I'm not the one doing it.
If gays were having anal sex at the bus stop or in the middle of town then there might be an issue but as it is, people sexual preferences and fetishes are their own business and have no effect on my life.
I don't enjoy watching anyone snog, regardless of gender or sexuality. Especially full on snogging when they're eating each other's faces.

I just dont believe that people feel the same seeing men snogging as men and women snogging in public. it may become norm in years ahead, but I dont believe people who say they feel the same about both and I dont think my observation warrants me being called a homophobe. my observation is probably quite accurate. I feel those who say otherwise are trying too hard to be PC when it probably takes more time for men snogging to become the norm in public places. if it was already the norm then more men would feel comfortable doing so in public.

Kissing in public, regardless of sexuality, is fine. Full on making out and seeing tongue is not necessary unless you are saying goodbye to a loved one for a long time or something e.g. at an airport or train station. If you are out shopping, or in the park or in mcdonalds, subway ect. Then wait till you get home.
Making out in and outside clubs on a night out is alright though imo, like pulling someone. Couples doing it for the sake of it in public is just like, wait till you get home!?

Well since school my 2 best mates were gay, I have grown up pretty much surrounded by gay people. In gateshead where I spend most of my time, I'm quite sure its nearly an equal ratio of gay/bi people to straight people, at least in the crowds I hang round with. And when I go for a night out, we tend to go to the gay scene rather than the 'regular' bars, partly because its a better night out and you get no trouble (whereas in regular bars people seem to get pissed just to fight) and partly because when we go out in a group there are usually at least 3/4 gay people with us who feel more comfortable in the gay bars.

I think people should keep public affection to a minimum in public. I don't think a sexuality should matter. If a man and woman can walk down the street holding hands or kiss in public, then I should be able to do it with my boyfriend (if I ever get one).
I agree you should

Ok, well, I don't think it's weird because they're homosexual, I just don't particularly want to be watching anyone full on snogging

I think it depends upon a number of factors. My aunt (45) is gay and has never felt like she can even hold hands with her partners whilst walking down the street, which is sad. But one of my female friends who is also gay is happy to kiss her girlfriend in public. Each generation is a little more confident since attitudes are evolving, younger people today are surrounded by accepting peers which makes things easier.
I don't really have a problem with PDAs generally. They aren't for me as I'm quite private about my relationship, but I don't see the harm either way.

Regardless of sexuality there is a time and a place for full on snogging.
Quite agree. There was a young hetrosexual couple sitting in front of me on the bus and the girl kept constantly leaning over and kissing him on the lips, she just came across as so needy, it was embarrassing. As you say a time and a place. Other people don't want to hear them slobbering over each other every five seconds.

I'm always amazed at how sexual we all are but almost everybody everywhere hates other people snogging around them regardless of who it is. now that i find sooo weird.

Erm, can you quote one post that says that please?
The ones I have seen have all said they find ANYONE snogging in the street distasteful :/

yes you do, not everyone thinks like you, get over it
in the meantime get back on point and quit the personal attacks
What like the personal attacks you made on British women, on and off this site, when you said most British women were disgusting. Practice what you preach! Anything else is complete hypocricy.

i would say no in general, but i have to admit to some prejudice, when i see an older man snogging a much younger guy at the club, i definitely get grossed out and form opinions about both people involved. But i feel the same way about older men snogging much younger women, so it's nothing to do with their gender really.
I think an older woman snogging a much younger guy is hot though, I don't know why. figure that out
