To about £150 - 200k from now. A lot of hms aren't motivated to win but to launch media careers which is fine, but it means you get less middle class, affluent business type people as hms such as bb1 nasty nick, bb2 stuart the winker and bb5 ahmed and bb8 jonathan.
I think the biggest prize was bb6 when anthony could have potentially walked out with £200k if he'd gone to DR on final rather than eugene. Bigger prize will mean more game play and audience wanting to reward entertainment.

I don't think the prize money is an important factor for viewers (CBB has no prizes, just upfront fees).

I think they should cancel the celebrity summer series & do what they did in 2004.
13 weeks
£130,000
Lose 10k for each failed shopping task.
Plus, £130,000 is about £100,000 is in their time anyways.
For most housemates these days the prize money is only a small factor of the experience. That and the fact that the viewing figures the show does get doesn't really warrant raising it any further.

I actually like this idea! If they don't pass the shopping task, they don't get their 5K! Winner still gets 100K at the end though. Think we'd have far less walkers.

Big Brother USA does that right now, 1000 bucks every week they stay in.
If they quit then they don't get the money,
And because of that, We haven't had anyone quit the show because they wanted to.
So I'd have no problem with it.

As much as I get irked by walkers I actually don't get those that don't as the prize isn't that much.
Surely some HMs must realise they have no chance of winning.
I'd walk if I realised mega bland Sam Bb14 winner wasn't going to be evicted. Why and how did Wolfy - a plump frumpy butch lesbian with no story lines - think she could win over Sam? How?
£100k wouldn't motivate me to stay and try to win if I felt I had no chance, but £150k+ would make me go out of my way to try a bit harder and at least attempt to knock out blandies like Sam and Sophie even if it meant inevitably losing myself anyway.

Nope, c5 can't stray too far from format, the public love to vote (major talking point) and votes generate revenue.

If the people on Survivor can get 1 million for just 40 days, i definitely think BB should give them atleast 1 million for 3 months, if not more. 1 million seems appropriate prize money to me.
1 million is a huge motivation. It just sounds good. plus you guys don't have to pay taxes on it in the UK, which means 1 million really is 1 million.

Actually they don't anymore - the voting was loss making towards the end of the C4 days and they'd be getting even fewer votes now so at absolute best it might just be covering costs.
