Firstly I'm not one of those annoying types that go around accusing everything of promoting rape culture, just thought this was a bit interesting.

Hang on a second, where are the quotes from the lad mags taken from? Comments readers have sent in, the interviews that the models give next to their shoots, where?

Maybe it's just me but there's a couple of those that I don't see an issue with...

I have no idea I stole this from another forum

Those quotes can sound as similar as they want but the bigger picture is those quotes from the lads mags are intended as if the Girl is willing although 10 does seem a bit weird to say the least

" bit of the old in out " though :joker:

^ yeah I agree with that, kind of the point I was alluding to...I don't see a problem with some of these quotes because they're scenarios which some girls would actually want/ask for...

Thing is these lad mag bits aren't stand alone comments tbf and having looked again at which is which carefully, the rapists comments are a lot more disturbing than the mag snippets. I'd say 10 is iffy, the others are probably not half as bad as they sound at first read if you saw the actual article/feature.

Bit crude and to the point like, but not half as bad. The asking for it ones are very disturbing (rapist comments)

If 14 appeared in a lads mag then they'd be out of business soon after

I'd find any of those Lads mags comments disturbing for a publication I can buy in WH Smiths and is not considered a 'specialist' publication. If people want to seek out mags, web sites etc that have such a casual attitude toward sex then thats entirely up to them but I dont think its appropriate for the high street.#

I'm surprised no one has commented on 16. It could be argued it is encouraging date rape.

The more casual and liberal we are as a society about sex, the less problems we'll have

14 is a rapists comment, I don't think any of those need to be commented on because they'll all be disturbing

I pretty much thought they were all from rapists...

The worst ones on there are all the 'girls dressing skimpily = they're asking for it' comments but all of those are from rapists, some of the Lads Mags ones are pretty dumb but mainly harmless and taking them out of context like that might make them seem worse than they are

the comments that are not from rapist are more than likely from x rated magazines not your average lads mag.

I assumed this would be one of those "gotcha! they're all from lads mags" articles.

It's a quote from A Clockwork Orange.

I find all those quotes dysfunctional.

I got all but one. It's pretty obvious which are "lad banter" and which are just ****ed up.

I got 4 wrong.

It's hard to say because some of them may be wildly out of context for example "don't want to be caught red handed, smash her on a park bench" I thought was a rapist but it's from a lad mag so could be referring to an affair and he doesn't want to be caught by the wife.

But overall it does show you there's a fine line.

I have always thought this. Whenever its brought up, women say they do it to feel good about themselves..and that its nothing to do with men etc, but I don't believe that and never have. I believe they do it for the attention and to make men drool, and probably a bit of trying to make other women jealous thrown in there too. Now, that might make the woman feel good (its always good to be wanted) but to say its totally unrelated to men is just a lie.

Having said that that doesn't mean they go out dressed like that to pull. The attention may well be enough.

I'd say women wearing little clothing is almost definitely to get attention and to please men (if they're straight obviously), which raises serious questions about why girls are encouraged to dress like this I suppose (not that I'm complaining ), but the rapist apologist argument that 'they were asking for it' is so disgusting anytime I hear it I feel literally sick. When are these people going to get it? What they wear is not an invitation for you to go and rape them

Having said that though it's not about what people look like in rape scenarios, it's more opportunity than anything

...I find things like this quite disturbing because I think that the quotes have been selectively taken to equate guys who read/enjoy lad's magazines with a rapist mentality and rape has nothing to do with sex at all..it is an act of violence..I believe that the 'research' was carried out by a feminist who specialises in the psychology of violence against females and I think it's an extremely manipulative publication..I imagine you could isolate quotes in many, many things and 'slant' them to look a certain way which would make for quite sensational reading...anyway, it would be nice to think that we've progressed a long way from the ignorance of...'woman provoke rape by how they dress/act/their body language..' etc...but I can't see this 'research' helping females to feel that they would want to report a crime of rape and feeling as though their own behaviour would be the thing 'on trial', which is wrong..and it's certainly not a good thing to liken 'an average guy' who like lad's mags to a rapist...

yeah its obviously for attention but also to feel good . plus to compete with others girls and sometimes to pull ,plus a lot of girls dress like it just to get free drinks of dumb guys lol and have no interest in pulling.

well according to the rapists, the girls were willing and really wanted it too. why else would they wear such a short skirt? :face palm:

Almost all advice i've ever heard given to guys who are unsuccessful with women is "you just need to be more confident, women like aggressive macho men, stop being a pussy"... that doesn't help. and it's basically just encouraging unattractive men to be more aggressive towards women.

If they launched a lads mag and called it The Rapist surely they would kill 2 birds with one stone

No hang on thats wrong
