Or avoid it at all costs?

avoid it. I feel like I'm generally too uninformed for most of the topics... then when I occasionally venture in there and see some of the posts I wonder why I don't.

I only venture in for News stories.

Quite like SD tbh. Gets tedious having every thread turned into the exact same stuff though.

I'm starting to realise why I steered clear.

It is tiring having every issue turned into a "women aren't important" rant. Goodness knows why such trolls aren't banished.

Great section

Its a great section and not surprising that so far those that say they dont also like to diss it at the same time to make themselves feel better - ie they feel threatened by it.

If I have an interest in the topic I'll go in, alot of the topics seem to be about British Politics though and I have no interest/no nothing about that

Kizzy
19-03-2014, 10:18 AM
Just had a look over the last month there have only been 3-4 threads relating to British politics that I can see.

The best serious debate threads are the ones that descend into anarchy with a ban or two handed out for good measure. Not seen one of those for a while

If you understand that our main motivations as humans is to breed and to feel important then what you say is pretty standard human stuff and comes of no surprise.

..sometimes I'll post in there, it depends on the topic/news story really and it's always interesting to read different opinions...I do think though that there is sometimes intentional 'baiting and winding up', which kind of spoils it for me because then a lot of opinions and posts are 'lost' because it can get too tedious to read through the threads or have any enthusiasm to post...

Who does that then, and is it just in serious debates or all over the forum?

When there is a bit of variation I do, but most of the time it's just religion threads, been that way for ages

What is ironic about that, most people thankfully are are atheist - even the religious posters

This is the same bleating that happens on DS. People want to debate religion and will continue to do so until it is eradicated from schools and politics

after that, guess what

No one will care

Thankfully, the real world is not as simplistic as you.

You don't debate anything, you just tell people they're wrong.

Definitely one of my favourite sections of tibb,it is good to see good exchanges develop, even despite differing views.

I have picked up a lot and learned a great deal from the serious debates section from those I agree with and those I don't too in about equal measure.

My feelings too joey, I'd rather have a good ol debate regardless if I agree or not than go in the chat threads for instance and be completely ignored :joker:
