'Supernatural' Dropped by Sky

Supernatural and Cougar Town no longer have a home in the UK, after being dropped by Sky Living.

The broadcaster confirmed that it hasn't picked up the rights to future seasons for both shows.

In a statement on Sky's website, the company said: "We understand fans of the show may be disappointed by this news and we want to reassure you that we appreciate your passion for TV, Sky Living and these shows in particular.

"Please be assured that here at Sky Living we're committed to bringing you a fantastic line-up of new shows in 2014. To find out more about what's coming up over the next few months please visit www.sky.com/living.

"Of course, we take your feedback very seriously, and we anticipate a lot of you will want to get in touch with us about this. We can't promise to reply to you all on an individual basis, but we'll make sure we post any updates on Facebook, Twitter or online.

"Meantime we have lots on offer here on Sky Living, and are working hard to bring you even more exciting and entertaining shows in 2014."

Supernatural is currently airing a ninth season in the US and has a 10th commissioned. A spin-off series, Bloodlines, is also in development. Cougar Town's fifth season is airing on TBS in America.

Previously, Sky Living dropped MTV drama series Teen Wolf.

The channel's current US import list, however, is very busy. Chicago Fire, Hannibal and Elementary have all been hits for the channel and it also airs Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Bones and Dracula.

A fair few US series are being dropped in the UK lately, it's not surprising though if they air them months after their original broadcast in the US. There's no point in airing a US series if you can't broadcast it in a similar time frame to the American broadcast.

I can see Netflix picking up a lot of the dropped series, they had a lot of success with the exclusive rights to Breaking Bad and I'm surprised they haven't opted for chasing after more exclusives.

i dont have that channel anyway. i do think its strange they dont have it in the uk. great and popular show. i expect channel 4 or 5 will get it now and run it to death

Supernatural is brilliant. Italian channels are showing it. I may watch it there. :hugesmile:

i was going to get it think its the first 10 seasons but then they made more so i,ll wait till it ends before i get.
can get online though, i cant watch it on tv i remember trying but the adverts drove me mad. funny enough it made it start getting box sets so i can binge on the ghosties lol

tumblr was my reason for starting it tbh.. a few of the people I follow were fans, and they'd post stuff all the time.. and I felt like I was missing out, so I tried it, loved it, then became one of those people who post on tumblr about it.

good news is the ratings are good and not only will we get season 10 it might even continue beyond that. except jenson (dean) apperently might leave after 10. something about the avengers wanting him or something.

I like Supernatural, although wasn't overenamoured with the last season of it. They should get a few strong story lines going, so they end the series on a high note, and end it they should now, with Dean and Sam finally dying and staying dead.

that's sacrilege lol cant kill them of. I'm not sure if it should go on or not. i guess 10 seasons is a good time to stop rather than it getting cancelled if the ratings drop some time after.
i wouldn't kill them of though. I'd have them try and live a normal life and give it up then they could return them in 10 years when they are both broke and need work lol

Series 7 is the Leviathan series right? That one's the worst of the bunch, Series 8 was far better.
