Amazing that it's raised that much but shocking a 'trend' is the reason for it tbh.

I'm more bored with the people on Facebook complaining about the trend. It's just a homepage... it's quite easy to scroll past, or move on from. Fair play if it's already raised so much.

The thought of all these girls spending longer to get the no make up selfie looking good than they do to apply all their slap...

Oops!
'Thousands of pounds donated as part of the "#nomakeupselfie" craze were sent to Unicef instead of Cancer Research UK by mistake, the BBC has learned.
More than £8m has been raised after the craze of taking a self-portrait with no make-up spread virally.
But those texting "DONATE" rather than "BEAT" found their money sent to the wrong charity.'

does it really matter? as long as it goes to charity, i dont think its a big deal
people are trying to find any kind of issue with this and its so pathetic

Genuinely can't handle this. A guy I know posted one and tagged someone on my friends, so it came up on my wall. I've known him all my life.. he's older than me, and I can't handle seeing that.. how the f.uck am I supposed to say hello to him in the street now without that mental picture coming up.. 0_o

Well it is if you want to donate to a specific charity obviously...

Well placing such a huge amount of money into the wrong place is kind of an issue.

Cock in a sock is hilarious but scary at the same time. Luckily I have only seen one of those so far, but I'm dreading new ones coming up from people I actually associate with

a charity is a charity... either way someone in need is better off than they were before
besides, not everyone i know has been raising money for cancer research... I've seen people donate to all kinds of charities. i don't think that just because everything hasnt gone to cancer research it means that it's mistake.

That's not entirely the point, if I choose to support a specific charity then I would expect my donation to benefit said charity.
It was an error, some people may not mind and some would.

Well then maybe you should double check where the donation is going, it's an error on the part of the person if they text "donate" instead of "beat" and send it to the wrong charity

..what does 'beat' mean if you text that/what's the difference..?...

Well I think the 70099 text number is just one that a lot charities use, they all have a different keyword which when you send the message will direct the donation to that charity
Cancer research's one is 'beat' so if you text that to the number you donate £3 to them, but Unicef's keyword is 'donate' so if you text that you'll end up donating to them instead
Apparently some people have also accidentally donated to the World Wildlife Fund by misspelling it and texting "bear" instead
