Three teenagers have been arrested after a 15-year-old girl was shot dead in East London this afternoon.

The girl, who has yet to be named by officers, was attacked in a house shortly before 4pm in Hackney Wick.

The arrested men are all under 18, detectives believe, though they are yet to definitively identify them

Officers and paramedics were called to the scene, where the girl was pronounced dead.

The trio were taken into custody by the police, and are being questioned in an East London police station.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: 'Detectives from the Homicide & Major Crime Command are investigating. Enquiries continue to establish the circumstances of the incident, and a post-mortem will be held in due course.'

Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased and are informing family.

The London Borough of Hackney has a reputation for being dangerous. According to Metropolitan Police figures from last month, Hackney has the second-highest crime rate in London.

Over the past year, five killings and 70 cases of gun crime took place in the area, according to the force's crime figures.

According to the Citizens Report website, 12 teenagers were killed in London last year, four of whom were also shot. The girl is the second teenager killed in the capital in 2014 after Iraqi Basel Aghabra, 19, was fatally stabbed on February 3

hi ammi - i woke to this news and it got me thinking. and i guess you no whats going to follow.

girls - gangs - as bad as bad as the vice trade ? 23.03.14

yes its spreading
becoming fast and furious
but i won't be dead heading
because these girls are ludicrous.
they are being in drawn
under false pretense
for criminals its a new dawn
there input is immence.
girls can only add fuel
that's why i have no silence
used as a drug mule
getting them high then threatening them with violence.
also the sexual in-pact
the male members are stallions
girls that are "naive" do instantly attract
the male testosterone is relieved by the gallons.
this is a modern slavery day
we need to offer a escape
girls are now easy prey
drug running or suffering violence and rape.
guns are also in the breed

it did seem to point to that given the guys didn't flee the scene and it happened in a private house. Very sad for all concerned.

Edit

15 years old, she looks so much older!

Discipline kids from an early age to know right from wrong and these things don't happen.

Get rid of bureaucracy and bring back common sense.

It's only a minority of people, Hackney shouldn't be judged as a whole. I live in Hackney and not going to lie it's kinda rough but it's not as bad as the media portray it to be, yes the crime rate is high theres nothing denying that but it's really not that bad. This is a tragic accident. Accident or not, it's murder and those bastards deserve life.

Get rid of bureaucracy and bring back common sense.

In this case it's not really that simple, as it was an accident. Teenagers are geared up to explore the world, that's how the development from child to adult happens, and amoungst others that means two things (psychologically): teenagers are curious about everything, especially "adult things", and want to, for want of better words, dick about with them. Teenagers ALSO feel "invincible". It's a natural part of human psychology. It's what allows children to advance to wanting to explore the world for themselves.

Of course... Take curiosity plus feelings of invincibility and throw a loaded firearm into the mix and you get ... This.

Anyway, my point is you're never going to stop kids from being idiots with dangerous things. The ONLY answer is to keep them away from guns. At all costs.

If it was an accident then it is not murder, manslaughter I guess, depends where the gun came from. If it was brought to the party or if it was in the house already there are a lot of ifs and buts.

I'm not defending Hackney, it clearly has it's issues. I've witnessed some ******ed up things around here. A guy was murdered on the end of my street a couple years ago, he was stabbed and then ran over as he went to get help. This was over a £50 bag of drugs. :bored:

East Hackney is far, far worse than where i live imo! East Hackney being London Fields, Homerton, Hackney Wick ect - thats where about i would say most of Hackney's serious crimes happen. I would rather live where i live in Hackney than any other those places! Hackney has it's pluses too imo. It's nightlife has become some of the best in the UK! In 2009 Vogue Italia declared Dalston the trendiest, coolest, most caldissimo neighbourhood in London! Rihanna and Britney have both filmed music videos in Hackney in recent years plus it has one of the highest baby rates of middle class families in Britain, that really shows now because there is a total of 50 primary schools in Hackney (the second smallest borough in London) alone, 65% of pupils being middle class white kids

The point i'm trying to make is that nowhere is heaven in London. Serious crimes like murders & rape happen across the country all the time, not only in London. I hate the stereotype Hackney has, people should live here before they judge it tbh. Then again all stereotypes start somewhere. :/

Hackney is quite a rough area. I used to work in Dalston and there were fights in the shop all the time. We even got someone carrying a knife once. He was coming right at me.
