Rumor: Bradley Cooper Eyed To Lead 'Indiana Jones' Reboot

The last word we heard on "Indiana Jones 5" wasn't so good, at least for those hoping Disney would crack the whip on a sequel sooner rather than later. In December, studio chairman Alan Horn said quite plainly, "We haven’t done anything. We don’t have a story. We need a story.” But if these latest rumors are right, between then and now, something has changed.

According to Latino Review, time is running through the hourglass in terms of getting the 71 year-old Harrison Ford to reprise his role one more time in another Indy adventure. And given that he's widely expected to have some kind of role in "Star Wars: Episode VII," it'll probably make things even more challenging to get him to take a prominent, ass-kicking role in "Indiana Jones 5" without herniating a disc (or his entire body) further down the line. (And it's a role that the usually fussy and cantankerous Ford has said he'll gladly do again). So, how do you keep a lucrative property alive? Reboot.

And according this new rumor, Bradley Cooper is on a studio list somewhere (with other names too) as a potential dude to take the whip and make the part his own, if the timing for Ford can't be arranged. Of course, as Alan Horn said, Disney might not even have a story at this point, though Frank Darabont has apparently pitched an idea. At any rate, it seems any talk of an Indiana Jones movie is still super early. However, it is a very valuable brand and one Disney won't be sitting on idly for too long, so it's not a shock that plans are formulating at the mouse house.

So don't freak too hard, and consider it as a mere possibility at this point, but one that's still fun to speculate about. Who would you have take over the role of Indiana Jones?

I liked the last Indiana Jones film. I don't see how Aliens are so ridiculous, but earlier films about nazi's skulls being melted by the covenant of the ark, or crazy voodoo witchdoctors in india was okay, but aliens, omg, that's just too crazy!

I want more Indy!

I dunno about Bradley Cooper though... I think Jared Leto would be better.

well it was more to do with harrison being ancient, shia labeouf being terrible and the "aliens" not being mentioned at all until the last half hour

just total BS

I think he would play a great Indy.

Writing was the problem in the last film.

I wouldn't mind a new Indy film even if it doesn't have Harrison Ford in it as long as the script was good because it was a terrible script that let down the last film.

A new actor playing Indy could work.

Churning out another sequel is the laziest milking-a-cash-cow manouevre in Hollywood. People will pay to see it out of dedication to the franchise but they'll hate the film, moan about how it desecrates the sanctity of Indiana Jones blah blah blah but are continuing the cycle by paying to see it and therefore justifying the decision to make a rubbish sequel. Lazy way to bank a cheque from everyone involved, it won't do anyone's careers favours etc.

Still wouldn't be as bad as Ed Helms in a Naked Gun reboot *shudders*
