'******* off back to England you ****!'
Bizarre moment a surfer was racially
abused by a paddle boarder on a
Cornish beach (who appeared to consider
Cornwall another country)
Longboarder Phil Brown, 29,
was subjected to abuse after 'sharing' a wave
Former Army serviceman described
it as 'disgusting' and 'inappropriate'
Unknown paddle boarder launched into
four-letter tirade at Bude, Cornwall
He told surfer: 'I will put you in *********g
hospital' if he rode same wave again

I was quite put out by the locals in Cornwall, they were very unfriendly I thought. And I thought they'd be cheery, the amount of cash people spend in the backward little county. I suggest tourists stay away for a whole summer and watch their economy bottom out.

Not when your whole economy relies on fish and tourists.

I don't think it's fair to write off a whole county due to one or two rude people, when this guy is identified I hope he's suitably embarrassed.

I didn't meet one or two rude Cornish people while I was there, I met LOADS. I've never encountered this anywhere else in England. Most people are proud of where they come from, but not rude. And the Cornish, generally, are rude.

I've heard this from my friend who's on his teaching placement year down in Truro, he said that people are very rude to outsiders in a patronising sort of way

I've heard about folk travelling to quaint little towns and villages and buying up properties for second homes, effectively killing the village and communities... maybe this has a bearing on some cases?
(Not just in Cornwall obv)
But as for the guy in the vid, he just seems like a knob.

I've heard a lot about incomers buying up property. They call North Norfolk 'Chelsea on Sea'. However... a lot of locals in those pretty villages get rich off the back of incomers. Incomers buy property from someone - locals. There is no excuse for rudeness if you're relying on tourists for your livelihood.

It was one guy livia... and he was clearly from Liverpool
Villages don't get rich of the back of incomers, whoever is selling the house does :conf: If the house is then only inhabited 3-4 weeks of the year what happens to the village?
Anyhoo that's not the issue here, you had a bad experience in Cornwall once that much is obvious.

Yes, I was referring to my visit to Cornwall. I can only speak from personal experience, so why you're taking issue with me is anyone's guess. That was my experience, you can like it or lump it it's all the same to me.

Villages don't get rich off the backs of incomers, no. But the locals who sold them the property in the first place make a tidy sum, and yet no one moans about them letting down their community and selling to incomers. Using this as an excuse for the rudeness of a whole county is hilarious.

Isn't that what everyone does, uses their own experience to form an opinion? You often talk about stuff you have no actual exprience of at all. Which of us is right, I wonder.

I've heard people say that Yorkshire people are quite gruff and not particularly friendly. I myself have always found Yorkshire to be one of the most friendly places in England. Of course, that's just me using my own exprience. And it doesn't make me right about everyone from Yorkshire, does it.

I dont think anyone should right off a nation just based on a few visits or a few meetings with the odd resident. Its the type of ignorant attitude that one expects from say the smelly French of the Australians and their fecked up dust island they cling to.

I should know as i went there once but never again. :nono:
