What are your thoughts on this type of stuff. I think it can be pretty amazing, meditation and relaxation techniques help me a lot with anxiety.

------------------------

Our sub-conscious mind is more responsive to suggestion when we are in a relaxed state. The suggestion travels a direct channel in the subconscious, where it effortlessly becomes a belief, modifies behaviour or produces an effect or action.

Hypnotherapy was approved by The British Medical Association over 50 years ago and the therapy has conclusive, scientific research to back its effectiveness.

The prime objective of most forms of therapy, including hypnosis, is to empower the client to rid themselves of pent up inner feelings of negativity. Therapeutic healing can be achieved, when thoughts, memories, sensations or negative feelings that have laid dormant and been suppressed for a long period of time, are brought into conscious awareness.

Something you'd consider/appreciate or a load of bunkum, what's your opinion?

I think it's all placebo effect. I don't think there is any deeper secret to it. I think it's just placebo, and hey, even if it's just a placebo, if it helps people, i don't have a problem with it.

but i don't think they should be allowed to call themselves doctors or be able to practice dangerous medicine. as long as it's just harmless procedures and medicines made of herbs, if people want to believe in it and it helps them by placebo effect, good for them. But they should not be considered real doctors.

As long as they aren't doing any harm, i don't have a problem with it.

Alternative Medicines and practices can be effective with psychological issues. I dislike it when people forgo traditional practices in favour of alternative methods when it comes to health based issues.

I'm all for neuro linguistic programming and other forms of self help for addiction and other destructive behaviours.

Quoting a few posts .... Think you've all made good points.

Definitely, the power of the mind is an amazing tool, with regard kt emotional issues as opposed to physical illnesses though. I have panic attack syndrome, irrational thoughts and anxious and scared unnecessarily and I'm learning ways to handle this 'problem' that really do work for me.

Yes, common sense must prevail above all else, I wouldn't like to see myself/someone else put their health at actual risk by focusing solely on non medication remedies.

They really do work.
