Peaches Geldof died from a heroin overdose, according to toxicology tests due to be published on Thursday, The Times has reported.

The newspaper said that analysis conducted following an inconclusive post-mortem revealed that ingestion of the class A drug led to her death.

The body of Peaches, daughter of musician Bob Geldof and Paula Yates, who herself died from a heroin overdose in 2000, was found at her home in Kent on April 7th.

Shortly before she had died she had Tweeted a picture of herself and Yates with the caption "Me and my mum".

She left behind two boys aged 23 months and 11 months

At the time of her death, she was a columnist for Mother & Baby magazine, writing that "being a mum is the best thing in my life" and she was "happier than ever".

Wow, that's very sad! I wasn't expecting it really.
I did wonder why her husband and family hadn't acted quite as shocked as one would have expected. If she was doing heroin to that extent then at the very least her hubby would have been fully aware of her drug use and there's a very good chance that her family knew as well.
If it was a heroin overdose then it's very strange that the police said that no drugs or drug paraphernalia were found, unless they were using some degree of discretion for the sake of privacy but that would be unusual for the filth.
To have overdosed she must have been injecting so there must have been evidence of that at the scene. People don't die from smoking heroin and even if you could there would be used foil and stuff.
I guess it would explain her recent weight loss as well.

You would really think that having gone through what she did with losing her mother in the way she did that would have been incentive enough to not want her poor kids to have to go through the same thing. She would have realized her habit and her mental health were getting gradually worse and i'm sure the people around her must have noticed too so it surprises me that she wasn't receiving the help and care it would appear that she desperately needed.:conf:
I know it's can be extremely difficult to get help with addiction and mental health issues if you're the average Joe with no cash in the UK but someone with pretty much unlimited finances available to them like she had could get the very best care money could buy.

..yeah he must have known, I don't think heroin is something you can take and not have the people closest to you know about it...I would imagine that others knew as well and were quite worries about her...it's all terribly sad for all her family and friends...

Surely now a criminal investigation needs to be started as to who supplied this drug, was a from a rogue contaminated batch or of unusually high purity.

Either way an investigation into the circumstances of her death needs to be started.

Yeah, i get the feeling she's been around the heroin scene in London for a while but whether she was actually doing it all this time herself i don't suppose we'll ever know.
She was involved with that Freddie McConnel kid who od'd and died and i think that was back in 2011. She apparently phoned his mother and in a conversation with her said that she hadn't been using heroin with him but she admitted that she'd been giving him money to score when he'd asked her because he was sick and broke.
That being said though, when they held an inquest into his death (he was found dead having overdosed in his London flat aged 18) the police had found his diary in which he'd written something along the lines of "Peaches is coming over tonight and i'm going to shoot heroin for the first time". Apparently he was child genius and was a Mensa member with a super-high IQ and all that stuff. His father was a composer or something and i think his mother was an artist and they were quite wealthy.
Quite a few of the rich kid crowd she hung around with were rumored to use heroin too.
It's not an easy thing to leave behind you but when you've got two young kids, a relatively new marriage and you want for nothing you would think that would help you and give you a huge incentive to stay away from that lifestyle.
Very sad on the whole! It's up to her what she did to herself i suppose but what she did to herself had a major bearing on her children's future which will now sadly somewhat resemble her own. Let's hope it doesn't carry on to another generation.

Finding out where she got it from won't solve anything and at the end of the day SHE got it and took it. It's not like she was forced to do it.
Heroin will kill you if you take enough of it. The 'rogue batch' thing is more of a media invention to sensationalize things really. Unless you're new to taking the drug accidental overdose is a pretty rare thing. People build up a tolerance really quickly which would lead me to think that it was more likely to have been a planned thing rather than accidental. The fact that the last thing she posted was a picture of her with her mother would kinda' point to the same thing, unless it was an unfortunate coincidence.

If it is confirmed as a Heroin overdose then in the absence of a suicide note will the coroner change the verdict of her death from natural causes to misadventure or accidental death.

We will never know for sure if this was a normal drug taking that went wrong due to a contaminated or very pure batch.

Or was it a deliberate overdose ie suicide, I guess it may even have been just a miscalculation as to the amount to take especially if she had not taken it for a long time.

I did read somewhere that there's speculation that someone had been into her house and disposed of any drugs/drug paraphernalia before the police got there. Kinda' makes sense if it was a drug induced death because even if she used all of the heroin she had there still would have been a syringe and her bits and bobs to be found.

Still too much enigma around this case to form a proper opinion on it. I'm sure more will come out. I'll admit though I knew next to nothing about Peaches Geldof before she died apart from that she was Bob's daughter. The person who supplies a drug, even in a court case, would not be guilty of murder or manslaughter or anything. It's her fault that she died if she overdosed. It was her choice to take the drugs and therefore the risk.
They could convict the supplier of supplying a Class A drug and that's it.

I find Katie Hopkins usually does raise some good points but without ever really intending to do so; she'll say the most offensive thing possible to goad strong reactions but there is usually something sensible to be taken from all the bile. This is no different.

People would react completely differently if it was a mother on benefits, they would have far less sympathy, they probably wouldn't even try to understand. They'd dismiss her as human trash. And that's really sad. Especially considering the fact that many of those addicted people on council estates have had far more tragic lives than Peaches did... The sort of lives, and especially childhoods, that most of us can't even begin to imagine in our nightmares.

So she has a point - people are hypocrites. But in the sense that they should sympathise with those "benefits junkie mums" too, and be horrified by the society that has created them. Not in the sense that they should simply condemn Peaches along with them.

Not necessarily so.
Plenty of people die after drinking binges, either from alcohol poisoning or from choking on their own vomit etc.
A LOT, LOT more people die every year from alcohol or its long-term effects than from heroin. Alcoholics generally live a lot more damaged life than heroin addicts too. There's a lot of heroin addicts (usually the ones who have enough cash to comfortably support their habits, or doctors) that a lot of people could know for years without even realizing that they were a drug user.
It's usually the heroin users that have no cash and struggle to get the cash for their next hit that are the more obvious ones. It's when they haven't used heroin that they look and feel obviously ill.

Thieves targeted the home of the late presenter and television personality Peaches Geldof, police have confirmed.

Detectives in Kent say they are investigating two break-ins at the property, in Fairseat Lane, Wrotham.

Officers said a lawnmower was taken in mid-April, while thieves who broke into the home during a second raid on Friday apparently left empty-handed, police said.

The break-ins follow the death of the mother-of-two on April 7.

In a statement, Kent Police said: "Police are investigating a burglary at an address in Fairseat Lane, Wrotham, on 9 May.

"Officers were at the address within five minutes and no personal items are believed to have been stolen.

"Additionally, in mid-April a lawn mower was reported (to police) to have been taken from the grounds."

The body of 25-year-old Ms Geldof was found at the home she shared with her husband Tom Cohen, and their two young sons, Astala, two , and one-year-old Phaedra.

Her inquest earlier this month was told Mr Cohen discovered her slumped dead on a bed after she had recently taken heroin.

At the opening of the hearing in Gravesend, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fotheringham said recent heroin use ''was likely to have played a role'' in her death.

The raids come after the home of late singer Amy Winehouse was also targeted shortly after her death in July 2011.

Thieves took the wedding dress in which the Rehab songstress married Blake Fielder-Civil in 2006, as well as a cocktail dress she wore while appearing on the BBC's Later With Jools Holland.

Both had been intended to be sold at auction for charity before they were stolen
