Smithy's thread got me thinking. What, in your opinion, are the best/worst banks?

When I lived in London years ago I opened a bank account with Lloyds because I liked the horse in their logo

I've been with LloydsTSB ever since I was 16 and never had a problem but there has been some changeover now and they are split into two separate branches and I think I'm with TSB... When there isn't any bloody TSB's anywhere near me

...ahh, you would know if you had them....you do all of your transactions at a machine...pay money in/withdraw/transfer etc, it has all your accounts on there..it's a bit like a whole in the wall/online banking thing combined..there are no counters anymore...

No humans? D:

We have machines on one side but the desks with real people on the other.

I don't like how it's looking for the future of retail and customer service, no human contact.

Worst for me has been lloyds. About £5 worth of debt changed into £500 in the space of a few days..which I naturally refused to pay as it was ridiculous. Then eventually they stopped adding it on when it got to just over a grand and started chasing me for it instead. Then, about 4 days ago I get a letter from them stating that they are willing to write off the majority of the debt if I pay them...£30. I mean, come on. I'm tempted to say no to that too tbh, as the debt is now 8 years old so they cant legally do anything about it...if they hadnt been dicks in the first place I wouldnt owe it :joker: Also I'm quite sure I could claim hundreds back off them for unfair charges anyway...as this was back when they charged £30 per day for 1p overdraft and stuff.

Mind I had another account with them that I did actually owe debt on, but thats because they gave me a massive overdraft ON my 18th birthday. Paid that one off as I did owe it...

Best for me has been halifax. But I have had to stop using it because I applied for a few payday loans when I was in a bad money situation not long ago, and I must have not read one properly and it keeps trying to take cash out of my account for a 'fee' for this loan I have apparently been offered

Using RBS now, and apart from them not updating their systems til 2am (which is ****ing annoying) everythings been fine

..they're a little bit like that but there is a whole row of them where the tills/counter used to be, so you don't have any choice but to use them...it was really quite daunting for the first time...

Me neither.

..no humans Marsh....humans are a thing of the past/we don't need them anymore...
