Heard them talking about this on the radio earlier, apparently Robin Williams has signed up for a sequel..

Today in important Nineties nostalgia news, the eminently watchable Mrs Doubtfire is to get a sequel, with Robin Williams reportedly stepping back into his apron as the irrepressible Euphegenia Doubtfire.

Chris Columbus will return to direct the film, according to The Wrap, with Elf writer David Berenbaum penning the script.

The reports come as something of a surprise given its between 21 years since Mrs Doubtfire came out (and grossed an impressive $441 million worldwide at the box office), but stranger things have happened.

Another 90s comedy, Dumb and Dumber, is set to return to cinemas for a sequel soon, while The Truman Show was recently touted to gets its own TV series.

This has been in the pipeline since 2002 and they keep scrapping the scripts as Robin isn't happy with them. Robin was the co producer of the 1st film so I doubt these rumors are true again as he has stated it is very unlikely for a sequel to appear as none of the scripts have been any good.

its a game of spot the original film lately. never seen so many sequels and remakes in the works, many 20 years apart.

I really like the film 'Mrs Doubtfire' but for me a sequel just wouldn't and couldn't likely work.
