Why are pop queens so lacklustre lately?

I found a similar thread elsewhere and thought it was true. I mean what even is music lately apart from generic club bangers and Happy

None of the pop queens seem to be caring about their eras lately (interviews, promo, award show performances, material-wise etc) and they don't seem to be dominating anymore. Katy and Miley are an exception but it's still not the same.

I mean just compare these eras to
-2008/2009 with Circus v I Am.. Sasha Fierce v The Fame v One of the Boys v Rated R
-2010/2011 with LOUD v Femme Fatale v Born This Way v Teenage Dream v 4

Unapologetic had a really good first 2-3 months but then it went all messy and no promo

Britney Jean is one of the worst albums of all time and definitely not knee's main priority because of the Vegas residency

Artpop has also had a messy era with barely any promo for GUY/no DWUW video; people haven't a clue what gaga is doing right

Lotus was quite a poor album and was over in about 2 months

BEYONCÉ was great at the start but 4 months in and she has only done ONE performance in the US and two overall... touring and going on holidays this era. However it's a very good album

Bey was on tour as soon as her album dropped and by the time she finished a couple of weeks ago there weren't any big tv shows to perform on, which is the same for most the girls

Gaga and Xtine had/have really bad management (idk if Xtina changed hers) gaga going MIA 3 weeks after the album dropped pretty much killed all of its momentum which is why GUY is flopping s0b

Britney's album just seemed like something put out to earn some money and to shut the fans up, literally no thought had been put into it :shrug:

Katy is the only on being successfully, but even then it's not a massive success and it's not really surprising with such basic generic music

I can't argue with you. It just hasn't been the year for music for pop queens. You know that things aren't going well just by looking at the album sales. Everything from the last year has been mediocre.

But the others. :umm2: All of them seem to have just put out really generic, paint by the numbers music in a desperate bid to get chart success only it's not working so well. I think Artpop was the worst offender for that, claiming to be this big brash and high concept piece with innovative music when it was really just a set of like 9 derivative-as-**** house tracks plus a ballad. I mean I expected something half-assed from the others but not Gaga so much really.

But yeah. Lazy is the word I'd use to sum up all the recent releases. Lazy, lazy, lazy.

Just wait for Rihanna to return, she's a hit factory. People were bored with her so she took the cue and went away for a year, she'll be back with a smash hit that gets people talking soon enough. I've always been of the opinion that Beyonce's material is pretty dull, she just brings it to life on the stage because she's a phenomenal performer. Katy Perry and Lady GaGa clearly don't understand what people like/d about them, because if they did they'd be replicating the success they had with their last campaigns. I think they just kind of got a little bit lucky with how much their careers blew up and now that they're established artists they suddenly don't have a clue how to keep the momentum going. Are there really any others on their level? Britney Spears is a part time popstar who at this point it just feels like people support ironically. Christina Aguilera will keep doing features on other people's records because it's the only way people will buy anything with her voice on it.

that's because the era went messy, it was her own fault/her management for not doing any promo or being consistent with singles/MVs

up until that point it was doing really well, likewise to the first few months of TTT. it's nothing to do with the public being bored

I think it's from the sample at the start, she (Beyonce) was part of a girl group in a kids' talent show that got 3 stars from the judges whilst some other act got 4 and knocked them out.
