..he is actually an amazing artist

he writes/sings/raps/is an incredible dancer and seriously all his albums are good. his material recently has grown on me a lot (FAME is brillant) and most of the tracks from his upcoming album are promising.

the only reason why people dismiss his music is because of the incident, which is stupid. but Chris still had a solid fanbase.. his last two albums went to #1 and Loyal is doing really well both here and the US so stay bitter!

His music is pretty generic, everything about his music is easily replaced or replicated.

Tis true. You can't say he's not talented really without being blinded by hate for him. Even his bait pop/dance chart stuff is usually super catchy. Unfortunately for him he's ****ed up what most people will think of him though.

Hold up.
I was all set to agree with you.
Yeah 3x is generic af. Anyone who disagrees is just wrong.
Never have liked it, never will.

But TUTM (The Rihanna version) is flawless. (Perhaps slightly generic, but good)

On the subject of C.B.
Some of his music is okay.
He is certainly not 'amazing' and i'm not blinded by hate. I just think you've severely overrated him in the OP. :idc:

Britney doesn't dance close to what he does so it's pointless to compare. He sung live while also dancing his ass of on the 2013 billboard awards...this while everyone else like Selena Gomes etc lil synced.

Like Jason Derulo, he's a talented guy who has squandered his career producing ****e music in order to get played on the radio; if he (or his label) had more faith he could be producing great material without having to rely on jumping on the bandwagon just to be sure of success. **** like the Rihanna incident and his general anger issues have obviously ruined his public image and the endless tattoos and the fact he looks like he might be on drugs and the constant angry look on his face just don't make him very appealing in my opinion so a combination of how generic and trashy his music is plus his bad public image just makes me wish he would go away. He won't be remembered well for his music if he stopped making it today. Could be great but has chosen not to be.

PUH-LEASE he is nothing like jason derulo. jason derulo is ******ing awful.

Chris's music isn't generic, you're just showing yourself to be ignorant with that assumption because his albums are mostly pure urban/R&B, the only dance-orientated songs he makes are released as singles so you can probably count them all on your finger.

Please point to the part in my post where I said dance music. I said his music is generic and ****e, because it is. He could be so much more than what he is right now but a combination of his desire to fit into the current scene instead of carving out his own path and his bad public image has meant his career has never really taken off in the huge way it could have. He's exactly like Jason Derulo. A handful of international hits that have no longevity whatsoever; they both have the whole package - they sing, they dance, they genre hop. The difference is Jason doesn't have a negative public image (in fact I'd argue he doesn't have a public image at all, he just lets the music do the talking) whereas Chris just brings on a lot of negativity through his actions and it totally clouds his music.

how is releasing a track like loyal not carving out his own path :conf: genres like that don't do well on the charts anymore, he's clearly releasing the type of music he wants to.. and it's paying off

this thread isn't about his attitude.

You said the only reason people dismiss him is because of the incident, and I'm saying well no it's not just that; he's still making music and selling records despite that incident which isn't something many people manage to do after something like that happening in the public eye. His attitude is what puts people off. All I've done is comment on his career so far which is exactly what this thread is about... I don't even dislike him all that much, I think beating Rihanna up was ****ty but clearly they had a complicated relationship and it's not like they publicised it on purpose, the photos were leaked and it became public knowledge that way. I'm saying he squandered his breakthrough years with throwaway ****e and if he stopped recording tomorrow he wouldn't be remembered for his music because the incident still overshadows it. If he was carving out his own path musically I'm sure people would be talking about that rather than the time he beat up his girlfriend. Do people think about the incident when they think about Rihanna? It's probably not the first thing they think of, she's gone from strength to strength and really put her stamp on her own music. Chris has failed to do that.

All I'm trying to say is, people aren't listening to his music objectively and that's why it's so quickly dismissed.. I don't just mean the incident, but people's opinions of him in general

And I agree with you to some extent, but it's a self fulfilling prophecy really - he has a ****ty attitude - people dismiss him - he puts out music - people dismiss him - he has a ****ty attitude

The middle bit, the putting out music part, is where he could break the cycle. Do something to make people sit up and take notice. A brilliant vocal performance. A song that is like nothing else out there. Phenomenal choreography. The anthem of the summer. I mean it's not like it's out of his grasp, he could easily pull off a song that fulfills some/all of those criteria if he wanted to I'm sure, he's got the ability. Like I said, he's just pissed it away doing alright stuff when he could be doing so much better.

I actually do not mind his music, I have his albums. I agree people have got this pre-perceived idea about him, but his music can actually be quite good! I don't know what his personalities like, but I don't mind his music. I know what he did to Rihanna and that kind of put me off him a bit, but as far as his music goes, it's quite good. (Obviously I don't condone violence). I can see both sides though.

If he's done it before, he could do it again.

You are more than likely going to do some **** in your life, if not already. People **** up in life...some in a big way, some in a smaller way. Doesn't mean they will do it again. That's **** logic.

I've stole before when younger, but I can safely say I have no intention on doing it again. People learn from mistakes they make. Do some research on how much he has co operated from all the things the courts have demanded he does before spouting rubbish brah. He's hardly a saint..beating up Frank Ocean and Drake shows that(or be it it was within reason), but the whole Rihanna thing has been played out so much now. When she say herself that she feels comfortable around him and that he has changed for the better I would say she knows alot more than any of us.
