[A local election UKIP candidate has suggested that British comedian Lenny Henry should emigrate to a "black country".

Enfield candidate William Henwood was responding to recent comments made by Henry that there was a poor representation of ethnic minorities on British television.

On his Twitter account, he tweeted: "He should emigrate to a black country. He does not have to live with whites."]

It doesn't look good for the image of UKIP when their own party election candidates hold such racist and prejudiced views. If that's not embarrassing enough, then it was true humiliation that someone given a prominent role in the European Election TV broadcast has also been found to have been racist. The vetting of candidates from UKIP needs to improve and Farage needs to ensure these extreme candidates are ridden of and fast. I think as a political party, they're showing they've not had much time in the political limelight in front of a media who will look to expose them. They have an awful lot to learn if they are really and truly going to be taken seriously amongst the big boys and the electorate.
