Do you use the Self Service Checkouts when you are in the supermarket?

I hate them, have tried using them a few times and always get the dreaded 'please wait for assistance' message :fist:

:joker::joker::joker:

Omg yes that one is really annoying, it even does it when there's nothing in the bagging area?

I'm a master of them (work in retail) but they're still useless pieces of trash.

Only use it if I'm buying like one or two items quickly and there's a long queue

Not worth it normally because I can't be bothered to pack my items myself and by the time its messed itself up about five times and had to have the assistant sort it out you might as well have just queued up at the normal checkout

..I got the unexpected item yesterday and the assistant came straight over and it was because I had put my purse down on the shelf thing so that I could put the items in more easily..:bored:...

I use them in tesco because they seem better than the morrisons ones. But if it's really busy in morrisons I'll go for their self-service too. They're easy to get the hang of.

True but there is no more stressful an experience than going through an Aldi checkout

I love it and try to throw the items back into my trolley as fast as the lady whizzes them thru:dance:

I always use them, I make a big deal out of how good I am at working on at a checkout, to make them want to give me a part time job. It never works though haha, but seriously I find them fun, I hate just standing and waiting around ;(

Same with me.

I find it more efficient to scan my own items.

But if you only have a basket they make you leave it at the start of the checkout, meaning you have to stuff everything in your carrier bags in a few seconds flat as they are chucking it at you

Aldi's checkout experience horrible, at least in the ones around here...

For a start they only ever have 1 or 2 checkouts open and the queues are ridiculous also if you have a basket then you need to leave it at the end of the belt then carry all of your shopping over to the shelf after it's put through the till/scanner and if you don't do it Flash Gordon style then the checkout assistants get right pissed off at you and also I took my basket through one time to make it easier and the checkout woman got really mad and I was told 'Never bring your basket through the checkout again' :umm2:

I like aldis but the way they make you checkout is horrible.

I always get 'Please wait for assistance'. They come and fix the problem and then as soon as they go it says it again. That or the annoying 'Please place the item in bagging area'. IT IS IN THE ****ING BAGGING AREA!!! :fist:

I'd rather go through the main till and keep someone in a job than doing the job for them for free :idc:

Yes so would most tbh but these days most supermarkets that have the self service checkouts only have one or two normal tills operating because of them.

I became an expert at this when I lived in Germany and now I've got an Aldi really close to my flat so I've become an expert at getting my stuff into the basket before they've had time to tell me the total amount :joker:

I would normally use the self service checkout if possible though, I hate human interaction. Such a people person.

Thereby forcing people to serve themselves. More supermarket tactics to reduce their wage bill and increase profits. I'd rather wait 10 minutes, give it another 5 years and the big shop will be self service as well.

I often use self service tills either if there are long queues or I only have a few items. I find they're really efficient and I never have any problems using them...

That's why it's a bagging area and not a purse area.

No, I never use self-service checkouts. I already have a job. If I'm spending money in the supermarket I at least want someone to check it out for me. If everyone uses the self-service checkouts pretty soon the supermarkets won't have to pay anyone to do the job, lots more people - women mostly - will be out of work and the supermarkets will be pocketing even more of my money in profit.

In our supermarkets they have someone directing you to the self service.

They do in my local Morrisons, and they've shifted the 'basket only' till to the far end of the shop, but I'm determined and I always tell them no, I already have a job - but you won't soon if you keep encouraging people to do you job for free.

i like them but there is one terrible fatal flaw which is when you scan you want to put down in the bag or bag area but oh no. they design it where you cant do that you have to place it on the tiny section away from where you need it. which makes it say unepected item in baggage area,, which then makes you mess up and have to call for help.

so stupid. and annoying everytime i use it plus its low built for hobbits but i still use as i like to get in and out fast as i can just ask any girl that lol
