Broadway star sued by producer for not revealing she had cancer

actress Valerie Harper is facing a $2 million (£1.3 million) legal battle with the producers of a Broadway play after she dropped out of the run when doctors gave her just months to live.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show star was diagnosed with cancer in January last year (13), when doctors gave her a terminal prognosis after discovering the disease had spread from her lungs to her brain. She subsequently dropped out of the Broadway run of Looped that month (Jan13), just weeks before she went public with her cancer diagnosis.


Seems like those in unfortunate situations (want to avoid word victims) are getting sued left right and centre these days.

That's pretty awful - it's not like she planned to have cancer and drop out of the production on purpose! Where's the compassion?

Poor Val, not bad enough she is on her death bed some heartless producer wants to sue her.

I used to love her in The MTM show and her own spin off show Valerie.

If this sort of legal action can happen, I suspect the producers and studios behind the new X-Men film directed by the accused of abuse Bryan Singer may sue the guy who brought about the allegations if film flops (it was predicted to be a mega hit before accusations fell). Scary stuff.
