Can we lift the swear filter?

Can we just have freedom from the swear filter as long as people don't insult people with it? Idk why it is filtered, there are hardly anyone that's going to be outraged with it being lifted.

I like swearing. It can be very creative. It's only when it's used as filler for people with small vocabularies that it's tedious. Lift the ****ing swear filter. If any child logging on sees a word they've not used themselves, I'll eat my own hand.

No we can't. The swear filter isn't just in place in case anyone gets outraged or offended at certain words and this has been explained before...and for that same reason that's why it's not an option in the user cp either.

And if this turns into another thread that's used as an excuse just to avoid it then it's getting closed.

Most definitely. If anyone has an issue with curse words then that's their personal issue to deal with but I don't see why everyone else's posting styled have to be dictated by a small but vocal minority of people who might get their knickers in a twist every time I post a swear.

Well it's not really a debate but anyway my actual problem with the filter these days is every letter in the words being censored with asterisks, in some posts that makes it hard to decipher what word was actually used which is just stupid

What's wrong with keeping at least one letter in the filtered words uncensored so there's no confusion? Like ess tee eff you is censored for some unknown reason and that has the same amount of letters as like three other prevalent swear words, it can get quite confusing

And the c word filter has been taken to extremes now also

I would rather not have a filter, but until quite recently I never knew the reasons for it..always thought it was just to protect the kiddies from swearing, which I found a bit silly considering its primarily a BB forum and they will have heard a lot worse on the show.
