Yes Power Trip Is this years theme you ask? Housemates will be able to "influence, twist and control" the house like never before!
BIG Brother is just a few weeks away – and the first, delicious details of this summer's series have just been revealed to OK! Online.
While we're still sworn to secrecy on much of the info, we can officially tell you that Big Brother 15 will be all about one thing: POWER.
(Oh, and naked hot tub action, probably. So that's two things.)
Where last year's series of the Channel 5 show was all about Secrets And Lies, Big Brother: Power Trip will see the house playing mind games with its contestants, as the show gets a techy makeover.A show spokesperson revealed: "This year Big Brother is offering housemates the ultimate prize – power.
"Whoever has the power will be able to influence, twist and control events in the house like never before."
Sounds exciting, no?
Once again, Emma Willis will be hosting the main show, which will see housemates encouraged to use their ruthless side to "seize power, keep it and impose their will on the rest of the house".Think that sounds fun? Then get this extra titbit from our insider.
"The housemates aren’t the only ones – viewers will also be given the power to manipulate housemates throughout the series."
Viewers. That's us. Calling the shots and manipulating the housemates.
We're already practicing our evil laugh.
Our BB source also revealed that the Elstree house has been "completely renovated and redesigned" for this summer's spectacular.
They revealed: "Gone are the sumptuous furnishings and ornate decorations of the last Celebrity Big Brother house and in their place now feature stark open spaces and sleek, clean lines in a house that looks as though it has been transported from the future.
"Technology is at the heart of this year’s house. As ever, behind every mirror, multiple cameras will be tracing the housemates every move and as this year’s theme suggests, power is the key."

Sounds like the making of a house full of completely fake housemates then.. could be great, could be terrible.
Vicky.

Oh similar to last year then, an excuse to 'twist' anything that doesnt suit the producers..
Not that I complained much last year, given that the twists all seemed in favour of my faves

A bit underwhelmed. Hopefully it won't make for TOO many twists and turns.. But we'll see. I remain optimistic!

I almost came at these bits...

Once again, Emma Willis will be hosting the main show, which will see housemates encouraged to use their ruthless side to "seize power, keep it and impose their will on the rest of the house".
Until we got to this and they spoilt it...
with viewers calling the shots

It sounds like it's more about Big Brother having power but idk
Hopefully they do actually have some kind of power-based competitions and change the format a bit
Vicky.
16-05-2014, 12:18 AM
I have no problem with viewer input tbh, its what makes our show different to the rest

Most versions of Big Brother use public voting :suspect:
Our viewer input is terrible, that's the problem. They ruin the show

IDK why I put the rest, I meant the american one :umm2:
(as its the only other one I have seen but ours)
Marsh.
16-05-2014, 12:22 AM
The viewer input won't amount to much.
It'll be the usual polls to make them do a task. Maybe a vote to make someone boss and then after a week it'll be forgotten.

I hope the viewers power doesn't include putting housemates up for eviction

Futuristic house
The theme sounds okay but I imagine it's gonna turn out to be another BB14 full of outside interference and twists rather than letting the series flow organically.

Having an HoH and PoV with no house vote would kind of be pointless and if they do that I'd rather they just not bother
Whatever this theme turns out to be I hope it lasts the entire series because Secrets & Lies ended after a week last year and the fact the Michael twist which was so hyped up ended so early was pathetic

Sounds bothersome to me. I can already imagine all the posts whining about how each usage of 'power' is a rig by production against that posters favorite in the house. *cringe*
Hmm I'm underwhelmed, it's clearly going to be constant messing with noms and evictions and so on..not really interested in all that
See, I've never had a problem with twists and interference - as long as it isn't blatantly in someone's favour, then I'm all for it.
Marsh.
16-05-2014, 01:21 AM
I don't mind changing up the system each week with a twist, as long as it's not favouring a specific housemate. If they all still have fair and equal chance it's fine.
But if it's like last year where suddenly Dan was evicted because of a daft last minute change of the rules then that's not so good.

Dan's eviction was brilliant - it felt like a c4 type twist to me. Not a popular opinion I know.
So did the launch date get released?

For shock value it was great. But I remember it pissing me off.
What I do like about a theme like this is that surely there will have to be an element of gameplay from everyone? Nobody should be able to just cruise to the final this year? And if even the popular ones play the game wrong, the public could turn on them very quickly.

All sounding good so far, even though it was hardly an OK! MAGAZINE REVEALS ALL bombshell lol its the 5th story down on the homepage.
This whole public influencing the house could totally piss all of us off seeing as Channel 5 like to tell the housemates how popular they are on the outside, that is the one thing I do not want and is the total opposite of what BB should be. I want the housemates only interacting with each other its only then they will actually be themselves.
I cannot wait to see the house though im glad BB have now gone back to getting a brand spanking new house every year.
Oh and MrMarky the launch date wasn't revealed...Hang your head in shame!

To be fair, nothing was really revealed at all, more confirmed. We'd figured power was going to be a major contributing factor, so it's not exactly a leap to then work out what kind of series it was going to be. OK basically implied we'd be learning a lot more.

I hope it's similar to the Aussie powers they gave out each week through a competition. The person that one got a random power that would involve nominations. Like, someone might win the power and be able to see the tally board for nominations before they cast theirs. Or they can pick two people and sit in on their nominations, etc.
Marsh.

Nomination Super Powers.
I hope this technology theme isn't going to involve housemates being able to use twitter or something daft like that. :worry:

 No nomination twists please.
They weren't really twists. Most of the time the advantage they gave the power holding had little to no affect. But it allowed them to have a competition each week for the power and led to some funny awkward moments later in the series. They had a competition for save/replace too which was nice. Much better when a lot of people are up each time though.

If it encorages more bitching and scheming I'm all for it - they just need to use it well and hopefully not turn into an excuse to throw in a shyte twist all the time like secrets and lies.
It does make me feel optimistic about the housemates though - they surely will have chosen a load of strong characters who would be willing to do anything to get 'power'. :amazed:

Well eviction votes are viewer input.
Don't want it more than that, like last year when they had the housemates line-up in viewer popularity order a few weeks before the final.
Housemates should not be made aware how they are coming over to viewers other than by surviving eviction votes.
It sounds better than last year imo

I did hope there wouldn't be YET another TWIST THEME.
I just want the normal format of big brother that has a couple twists in the 7-9week period.
The fact that a whole twist theme is dedicated to this series again is so much effort..
And. I hope you guys know the fact that the housemates
Know the theme doesn't help imo

This theme is a bit different though, as they're aware they are fighting for power from the start. Last year it was disappointing because they all got really paranoid due to the theme being "Secrets & Lies", this year that isn't as much of a problem, the theme isn't dependant on the housemate's ignorance, rather it is dependant on their knowledge that it is a competition, and they are trying to win power.

Sounds like it has got good potential. I think it's fair to say strong themes are a new thing for UKBB now, it seems to work with the public and draw in viewers.
When do housemates go in hiding? I'd hope they are in hiding now although I guess they're not and will know the shows theme inside out before they go in the house. That sucked with BB14 when housemates would talk about the theme knowing it all, ruined any surprises.

I think it sounds fairly interesting. I have a feeling that there will be HOH/Veto competitions to be fair. I think personally, the series in the last couple of series has toned down the nom manipulation.
I noticed they pulled it back in the Italian series currently on air, the previous series of that one (2 years ago), as good as the series was, there was so much interference. For many weeks, this is what would have happened:
- Housemates hear who the publics favourite is or a couple of faves. They are immune
- Then the Bottom 6 is revealed and they are the only ones eligible to be nominated. This is a combination of who the public/BB/HMS themselves are in the B6 (2 from each).
- BB themselves decide to save 2 HMs
It got to the point where it was unfair on certain HMs, for example, there were 2-3 Hms who were ALWAYS chosen by BB to be eligible to be nommed because they were not entertaining enough.
This year they got rid of that, and have just gone with the traditional HMs can save someone from eviction, public vote etc...

BB14 didn't have excessive nom manipulation? LOL

BB14 didn't have excessive nom manipulation? LOL
No more than BB10-BB13. But I wasn't specifically talking about just BB14, I think CBB13 was probably the less manipulated series. Most things that happened was natural and non engineered. eg. the triangle, Luisa/Dappy rows, Linda/Jim rows, etc... They didn't need to show any conversations, it was all just there naturally.
