Macklemore, an outspoken voice for open-mindedness in hip-hop, has rankled select fans by wearing a costume some have construed as anti-Semitic, The Daily Dot reports. At a surprise performance at the Experience Music Project Museum Friday night, the rapper performed with an oversized nose, bowl-cut wig and Hasidic-looking beard attached to his face. Following the performance, several people expressed their dismay with Macklemore on Twitter. The rapper responded to the outcry with a tweet, but did not express contrition.

"A fake witches [sic] nose, wig, and beard = random costume," he wrote. "Not my idea of a stereotype of anybody." A representative for Macklemore directed Rolling Stone to the rapper's tweet.

He's an idiot that's just trying to cash in on the gays, I'm glad he's shown himself to be a hypocritical fool.

Drake will be so mad

I plan on doing my dissertation on discrimination in hip hop. This is fantastic stuff, Macklemore :smug:

He's not even that bad

He's mostly hated for

a) winning the grammy over kendrick lamar (50 kinds of messed-up right there)
b) his song 'Same Love' being seen as some kind of huge tidal shift for hip-hop being gayfriendly now when in fact queer-rap has existed for years and the genre was pretty friendly in the first place since they were both underground in the 80s and frequented the same areas, plus, y'know, he's neither gay nor hip-hop (he's pop that talks)
c) his face

yes 'can't hold us' and 'thrift shop' are nice pop tunes but he's made out to be the saviour of a genre he has nothing to do with and no grounds to represent
