View Full Version : Already Reported

-was gonna post this the other day but forgot-
Basically on other sites, if someone reports a post, the report symbol disappears, and it just says already reported, to stop other people reporting it (or in the case of that announcement tag team reports)
Just think it might be useful on here too :pipe:

No it wouldn't it would be terrible as it would be obvious who was reporting here pretty much, imo.

I think that'd be a good idea Smithy

What if a post is reported for two different reasons though  I sometimes report posts because that member's sig is ridiculously big, or if I want the thread merged with one that already exists  in fact I think that's all I use it for
Niamh.
23-05-2014, 01:26 PM
You could report another post by that person to report their sig Shaun or you could report any other post in the thread to ask for the threads to be merged?

who reports posts?
Not sure about this really, would lead to bickering by people annoyed that their post had been reported or someone else asking why something's been reported
Like in Shaun's case the post might be reported for something unrelated to the post itself but everyone will start wondering why it had been reported. And I don't really see why people should know a post has been reported, it's only the business of the Mods really
Drew.

Unless loads of people report posts and the mods get loads of notifications then i can't really see why its needed

I think it'd be even more useful with on season just about to start, the amount of trolling/reports that comes from those members must be ridiculous
Drew.

That seems like something that can be easily fixed.. just give them warnings and it'll soon stop.

Lets have a look at who reports the most. Mods can we have a top 10 please?

If people didn't break the rules there wouldn't be anything to report, so if they complain, they shouldn't have broken the rules in the first place

How would you know the post has been reported for the same reason you wish to report it?...

What if they don't know or care if it's against the rules?

People often report things that don't actually break the rules, and because of past issues on here, they are more than likely deleted as a precaution to keep the peace (without warnings or infractions issued). The problem is that too much power is put into the hands of serial reporters. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
Easy to guess which people would be against your suggestion.

I rest my case.....
Moderators don't as far as I know remove things just to please people.

If the post is reported then it has the attention of the mods and they will decide whether there are anymore infractions with the post.
Jesus.

Moderators do, as far as I know, remove posts to prevent any escalation even though the post isn't any kind of rule break.

What have infractions got to do with it, I thought the thread was about reporting?
Kizzy

Making assumptions as to who is reporting when or why is going to happen as matt said... it happens now even though you can't see a post has been reported.
I suggest it's made impossible to see what members are doing, as if people are PMing or reporting it is urgently alerted to others witch causes problems too at times.

You report posts that you believe have breached the rules f the forum. Your concern was that if someone else reports a post it may not be for the same reason you wanted to report a post. My point is that if your reason for reporting a post is valid the mods would most likely find it.

And how would that influence anyones decision whether to report or not?

a) unneeded, I'm sure the mod announcement will stop the tag team ****e from happening again
b) would cause arguments
c) let's not make this forum ATRL

What's ATRL? How do you know who else has reported a post? I agree with B.

I've never seen it cause arguments on any other site and they're usually populated by just teenagers, aren't TiBB members mature enough to deal with being reported :umm2:
I don't think this is something we need.
No one else apart from mods need to know what's been reported and most posts that are reported are normally deleted or edited if the mods agree that it's a rule break/inflammatory comment etc
I rest my case.....

No we don't remove posts to please people however we do remove posts sometimes that maybe aren't a rule break as such but are inflammatory and could go on to cause trouble in the thread.

 Idk, It's very annoying though.
Ngl, I used to get into debates in this sub but now I know that this will always happen for any suggestion, and so I stopped because it's just fuelling the fire even more

Well tbf it is a suggestions forum, its not a forum to say 'I want this' and expect it to be implemented asap without any questions..there are plenty of members and obviously not all will want the same things so then they do what the forum is designed for and discuss it...
I think Smithy was meaning why does everything on here turn into a serious debate when threads like this should just generally be a conversation without getting heated? I'm sure he will correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think I've used the report feature in about two years. Maybe just scrap reporting all together and we can all put our faith in the mods
