I don't hate it or anything but don't see the hype. I prefer most of it in a sandwich. But people joyously talk about how they'll devour it when doing the walk of shame after a night out on the lash. With comments like "A full monty will sort me right out". Then they're annoyingly giddy until it arrives and they shut up

Ours is a bit different to that seeing it's a 'Scottish Breakfast' we have black pudding, potato scone and square sausage with it.

I do think they are overrated a bit yeah I normally just have scrambled eggs with either sausage or bacon and mushrooms.

Same, and I can't have any visible grease or it makes me queasy.
Runny egg, fried bread, black pudding , sausage ? :vom:

Egg, sausage and bacon is lovely with some toast.

All the other add ons can do one. Unless I have spaghetti in place of the beans.

I rarely have it but absolutely not.

Bacon, sausages, mushroom, fried egg, black pud, baked beans, tomato, toast

I dont actually think Ive ever had all that on one plate... but being a student I dream about food.

..I've always wondered why it's called a full English breakfast and not just an English breakfast ..I don't know anyone to have a half English breakfast or a part English breakfast/it's odd...it's not personally for me ...

I think overrated but then there's quite a few things in it I don't like; mushrooms, baked beans, eggs. If I'm really hungover as well then I don't really fancy scoffing a mountain of food, wouldn't be able to stomach it

Prefer just having a bacon roll really

I don't like any of it so yes I think it's incredibly overrated.

Certain elements I won't eat like fried bread :yuk:, and dodgy looking sausages. Scrambled egg with bacon and a slice of toast and a half a tomato if someone is offering thanks.

I love it but rarely have it. I am having a traditional english seaside holiday this summer and will have the full monty each morning, with everything on the plate.

if you get a bad one then its overrated also you have to be hungry to really enjoy it.
I love the mcdonalds sausage.

I had a massive one yesterday called the big daddy, tried a new place while out in town, tasteless beans toast done one side, one egg too runny, under done bacon far to salty.
they get one shot, wont be going there again.

I used to go to the sheperdess in old street, london

many times a full monty rescued me from a hangover that could have launched a ship

:nono:Members of the Knitting Club need to look after their arteries. A full English LT you won't survive your English holiday, and if the hardened arteries don't put you in hospital, the depression from all that rain certainly will.

Rarely ever have one, I do when in Scotland as I always feel hungrier there, however I love the square sausage that Josy mentioned, it tastes different to me.

One thing I couldn't have on the plate however is black pudding, I loved it as a kid until I was told what it was.

There's a full Irish breakfast as well isn't there? I can't remember what's different though but I've seen it advertised at the old local Irish club.

I think it might be white pudding, and it won't have fried bread or hash browns, thats about it I think!

I don't like mushrooms, eggs (very much), tomatoes and I don't like beans early in the morning... so essentially it becomes sausage and bacon with a slice of toast and that is hardly a full english is it?

That's what the whole debate ended up about in the thread LOL. All I could think about was how wonderful it would be to have a bacon sandwich at that moment.

It gets about the praise it deserves, however it's not the best breakfast these isles have given unto the world.

That honour belongs to the Ulster Fry

It's definitely over rated, I don't rate them much at all. Full English Breakfasts seem to go immediately cold after about 5 minutes and they're just not the best in my opinion. Like you said, I'd prefer some of them on toast or on a sandwich.
