Here's the hypothetical situation...

Anna has known Mike for just over a year. When they first met he asked her out after a few weeks but Anna wasn't ready, she did like him.. They hit it off really well, but she just wasn't ready for a relationship and had a lot of baggage. Mike respectfully backed off but hinted he would like to ask her again at some point. Mike's had girlfriends but nothing serious and he's not very confident.

Fast forward to present day and Anna feels she's ready. Her friendship with Mike is still going strong, he mentioned them getting together briefly just after last Xmas and Anna said maybe we should go on a date and see how it goes, but she still wasn't ready and Mike could tell, so backed off for a second time. Since then neither have mentioned it, they are still getting on well, loads in common, shared sense of humour n stuff. Anna wants to give it a try, she's apprehensive but thinks if they don't try then they'll never know what could've been?

Her dilemma is she's unsure how to let him know she's ready, and wants a bit more than friendship to test the waters. She's dropped a few subtle hints but he's not picking up on them.

So, having read that....

What should she do? How obvious should she be?

Thoughts?

100% this.
She knows how he has felt in the past so should, as Josy says, tell him straight out.

Invite him round for a drink..make a move on him, if he does not make the grade blame it on the drink and ask to remain friends.

Normally works a treat.

Just come out with it. In his shoes I wouldn't really be asking again and would just wait until she's made it clear she would like to give it a shot.
