my mum is 61 and she's alot 'younger' than alot of retired 50 somethings, work keeps her young

the literal definition is "having lived for a long time; no longer young."
Living for, say, 60 years, is a long time.
Picked 40+ not cos I think it's old exactly but that's when you begin to start the back straight in life really, you'd ideally want to have settled down by then in terms of partner, career, home, kids etc.
