Big Brother 2014 contestants ‘set to have access to Twitter to find out who’s popular’

We already know this because of the other articles, it's a stupid idea and goes completely against the 'no outside contact' rule.

If that happens they've officially killed BB. They can go ahead and name it something else http://exhalecdn.breatheheavy.com/public/style_emoticons/default/frenchy.jpg

A screen with a live poll on wouldn't be that bad. Showing who is getting the most mention on twitter but I don't want housemates reading tweets in the house tbh.

Perhaps they should sack Emma Willis and make Kitten Pinder the host and call it Big Sister. http://exhalecdn.breatheheavy.com/public/style_emoticons/default/frenchy.jpg

Unless of course theres some kind of twist involved in it like them allowing the housemates to think they are using twitter but really its all a lie or something like that, would probably be too much hassle to pull it off though.

Actually that wouldn't be too bad an idea, something like those social media graphs Christian Howes used to create for BOTS (miss than man). Ties in with the technology theme and would actually probably inspire some of the dullards to make a ****ing effort and do something for once. Win-win

This is most likely I don't think they will let them go on twitter them self

What if the housemates get power for being the most talked about on social media? And that'd tie in with the viewers having the chance to partake in the power stuff as well, if they want their favourites to get the power they have to talk about them on different platforms and stuff

Jordan.

What if they just have a normal classic series that doesn't need any stupid outside involvement to cause drama

i just think producers will twist it and they will be tweeting stuff to the housemates saying other housemates have done stuff

that might actually be pretty good (with the housemates not knowing how it all worked)

That would be a good twist actually depending on what the power was..I still don't think any housemate should ever have access to social media or any other outside info the way we have been led to believe with the latest articles though.

I don't want a BBUS theme, I don't mind having bits of it like HoH but I want BBUK to stay as a reality show not a game show

Jack_
31-05-2014, 04:42 PM
I thought the theme meant a more BBUS theme but obviousy not, just knowing who's the most popular and a load of contrived twists

I want a BBUS format too but I'm beginning to get doubtful that it'll be anything near it...

I would actually be alright with the idea I just suggested because as I said it would kinda force the people who are doing **** all into making an effort which is never a bad thing. I would hope the power would be HoH then of course though...

So did pre BB13, but it turned out to be one off the best

pre BB13 was great, I was hyped for like 3 months straight and it actually had good build up news

If there's no house vote (combined with a public vote, I accept they'll never ditch that totally) then there's no point in having HoH and/or Veto because any game play they're trying to create will be pointless and meaningless. If that's the case I hope they don't bother

I just don't want a repeat of BB14 where the theme flopped and made an excuse for contrived twists.

If the poll was "rigged" it'd be good, like for example you vote for the least popular and it gets reversed in the house, so the most disliked think they're the favourites and act up - I'd like that.

The ones that are popular on twitter are usually utter dicks that noone else likes..so it wont give away too much really. Dont like the idea of this though

Am I the only one that is actually liking the new trend they've started of having themes? I think it's innovative and shows they're willing to try new things instead of just leaving it to rot like C4 did in the latter years. And as Emma said on Paul O'Grady the other day the reason behind it is because after fourteen years there's a risk of the format going stale (I know us hardcore fans disagree but still) and by having a theme it entices new/old viewers in to see how they're changing things up...

I think it's a good thing. Granted Secrets & Lies didn't exactly live up to what it was supposed to but still, hopefully this time it'll last the distance and actually have some proper impact which they've promised it will.

they didn't keep secret that Gina was the favourite

The whole task were they had to rank each other one who was most popular was a travesty

Also, whyw as the posts with the picture in deleted, we were still talking about the series?

Yeah I agree I didn't like the theme for BB14 every week there was a strange lie that got confusing and everybody thinking housemates where moles.

But I am liking the sound of this theme so far tbh not the social media that much but with hints of Power and stuff sounds good, I just don't judge a series before it starts.

Of course knowing who's most popular would make no difference if the public had no control :flutter:

All revealing who's popular outside does is remove paranoia amongst the housemates. Which is likely to cause less tension.

Yeah I like it too, But I don't want a twist every week.

If they start a twist on Day 1 and it carries on for the whole series I wouldn't mind that

I like the idea of them putting in more ruthless housemates and schemers or w/e but like surely that's enough? Just put them in and see them all backstab and lie etc to avoid nomination.

BB6 probably had the most ruthless housemates and they just let them get on with it and it was entertaining all the way through due to watching the likes of Derek and Makosi scheme there way through the game.

There is just no need for twitter and secret houses, it completely destroys the point of the show.

So yeah, the housemate selection sounds good but the twists dont.

I agree with you really however I've found in recent years housemates have been quite "lazy" in some respects playing the game, alot seem to just want to sail by. At least adding some form of manipulation would entice the game players to step it up a notch.

No secret houses though!

What happened to the theme idea that someone suggested on this site that's like bb5 were they get complete opposite people with complete opposite views to live with each other like chauvinists, feminists, gays, religious, immigrants, nationalists, sluts, assholes & watch the action kick in!!! Big respect to who came up with that, should work for channel 5!!

That's their fault for picking sh*t people

Just because they've said they're game playing schemers doesn't mean they are, people say all sorts to get in. At least this encourages some form of stirring.

This would be amazing, it's what I loved about BB5 and 6, people who literally would never, ever cross paths for mostly wrong reasons.

How does this benefit anything? like why do it? it's only going to turn off the hardcore fans who lets be honest are the main reason the show is still going

They should hold weekly public polls voting for who is playing the game the least or the worst or whatever and then reveal the results to the house so it'll make the dullards step their game up a bit

But that's them adapting their behaviour to please the public. Also making it obvious to the other housemates that they're faking it because they came last in a poll.

Makes it all the more manufactured and fake like BBUS. I prefer the balance to be more in favour of watching house dynamics grow naturally than game playing tactics. Especially as, with a public vote, game playing is fruitless if you're disliked by the public.

I will wait and see what it all entails before I start moaning although I am not keen on what I am hearing even before this series starts.

However unless the new housemates are really daft then whatever BB does, following on from the last 2 series, they should be very wary of whatever BB does and what info seems to relay whether they are popular or not.

If it works out that this lot all end up with more paranoia and question almost everything then it may be more entertaining.
I wait to be convinced and am open to being convinced but how I wish BB would stop meddling so much and I hope noms are left alone more this series too.

Having said that I expect to be disappointed as to the noms process again.
